Canon's newest full-frame mirrorless flagship has some stupendous video prowess but the camera maker had to later admit that there are overheating issues, which explained why there were time limits for the EOS R5 and EOS R6's clips.
To counter that, third-party camera accessory companies like Tilta have stepped in to create add-on cooling systems for the new cameras. But a patent discovered by the eagle-eyed sleuths at Canon News last year (and ignored by many as being impractical at the time) might suggest the camera manufacturer has been thinking about this issue for a while now.
The Japanese patent describes an RF mount lens adaptor with a built-in fan to draw in cool air towards the sensor and vents to expel warm air.

While this is an ingenious idea which places a cooling system right near the sensor where it's needed most, there are a few things about the design that are as yet unclear.
As an RF mount adaptor, this would mean that the cooling system will be in use only when using EF lenses with EOS R bodies. So anyone using native RF lenses will have to find other ways to keep things cool when filming video... unless there will be different versions of this adaptor.

The other issue is fan noise, something most videographers will be keen to keep at a minimum. It's also unclear how Canon will dampen the vibrations from the fan – another major consideration for movie makers.

Despite these little doubts, an active cooling system built into an adaptor is a great idea, but it is still just a patent and there's no guarantee it will see the light of day. If it does, though, it will help negate one of the EOS R5's biggest handicaps.
Until then, third-party accessories might be the answer to the overheating issues, provided you don't mind the extra bulk the new modules will add.

Samsung despite facing delays for its next-gen Exynos mobile CPUs is rumoured to be working on an Exynos processor for Windows PCs. Despite shortcomings and criticisms, the company continues to push its home-grown Exynos processors.
A Twitter user based out of Argentina has said that Samsung is working on ARM chips specific for PCs. This is supposedly based on the Exynos 1000 which could be the one next to the upcoming Exynos 992 SoC and beyond but we are not sure about it yet.
Rumors suggest that the processors could be named the Exynos 1 or 100 but Samsung already has a naming in 100 with the iT100 for IoT devices and hence the naming is just an initial guess right now. Moving on, as it is rumoured to be based on Exynos 1000, it could be built on the 5nm EUV process and hold the ARM Cortex-X1 CPU core which is part of CXC program.
ARM unveiled the CPU core recently and promised a 30% bump up in performance compared to the older A77 cores. That's not all as, according to Sammobile, the company has already developed a PC version of the Exynos 990 but isn't feeling confident enough on the chipset.
Windows on ARM is beyond the discussion stages right now. Few laptops are already in the market aimed at being power efficient and 'always connected' PCs with LTE and 5G connectivity.
Despite being compiled on x86 and x64 platforms, Windows on ARM is still possible with time albeit an emulation is the temporary solution right now. Microsoft has already partnered with Qualcomm and laptops like the early Lenovo Mixx 630(1st gen Windows 10 ARM based on Snapdragon 835) and Surface Pro X show that Windows on ARM CPUs have great potential.
Samsung's Exynos SoCs don't make the cut outside the company's devices often. It managed to clinch a deal with Vivo for the S6 5G to use Exynos 980 SoC but the company has already moved on to others for the successors.
This could be due to the main concerns that Exynos processors often face, weaker performance and power efficiency compared to rivals like Qualcomm. That said, Samsung could test the SoC on its own Galaxy Books before securing a deal with other vendors.
Qualcomm's 8cx and 7cx are currently the go-to ARM based CPUs for Windows but if Samsung somehow manages to outperform them, and bring their recent partnership with AMD Radeon for Mobile processors to ARM based CPUs, it's a deal done for them.
Rick and Morty season 6 is already in the works, co-creator Dan Harmon said during the weekend at Adult Swim Con. Production is currently underway on season 5, in terms of voice acting and animation, while the writers — including Harmon — are developing season 6 over Zoom video calls.
OnePlus Nord debuted last week in Blue Marble and Gray Onyx, but it appears to have a third colour option in the works that could be called “Gray Ash.”
SAP plans to spin out Qualtrics, its $8billion (roughly Rs. 59.8 lakh crores) acquisition from 2018, for an IPO. The German software giant says Qualtrics has already been operating with greater autonomy than most of its acquisitions but going public will help it expand its customer base.
The Vodafone Red Together M (RED 899) has a monthly rental of Rs. 899, and it offers connections for four total members in the family. Benefits include 70GB of data for the primary member and 30GB of monthly data for secondary members. In total, the four subscribers get a benefit of 160GB of data per month.
NASA will attempt to search for signs of life in an ancient lakebed once believed to hold water and, for the first time, take flight on another planet.
As the number of shows and movies available to stream in Australia continues to grow at an impressive rate, it can be tough to keep up with all the new additions to each streaming service each month.
We've all come to anticipate a new stable of Netflix Originals releases each month, but figuring out which shows they are and when exactly they become available isn't so easy. And what about the large number licensed shows and films that are made available to stream, if only for a limited time?
In an effort to keep you informed of the best shows and movies that are in the process of being added to Netflix, we'll be bringing you an updated list of what you can expect on the service on a monthly basis.
Not only that, we'll also be singling out the biggest releases, as well as a number of quality TV shows and films which we believe deserve your Netflixing time.
A fairly decent month in terms of Originals, Netflix has a number of great new TV shows, specials and movies on offer – here's what's new on Netflix in August 2020. Check out Netflix's newest offerings below!
The third gripping season of Netflix's series The Rain picks up years after said rain has decimated the population of Scandinavia. Now, Simone and Rasmus are the only ones who can save humanity – the only problem is both want to achieve that goal in very opposing ways.
The second story in what has become a 'Dirty John' anthology series of true crime tales, Dirty John: The Betty Broderick Story sees the titular socialite (played by Amanda Peet) turn homicidal during a bitter divorce from her unfaithful husband, Dan (Christian Slater). If it's anything like the first season, Dirty John: The Betty Broderick Story will be full of shocking twists and turns.
In this new (and very adult) animated series, a foul-mouthed high school basketball coach (Jake Johnson) sets the lofty goal of taking his team the big leagues. Unfortunately, the team is awful and so are his coaching techniques. An animated comedy that could go either way, we hope there's more to Hoops than a lot of swearing.
In the lead up to its highly anticipated third season, the first two seasons of the utterly fantastic former YouTube Original series Cobra Kai are coming to Netflix. For those who aren't familiar with the show, Cobra Kai picks up decades after the original Karate Kid movies, with ex-school bully Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) opening his own Cobra Kai dojo. This sets off alarm bells for Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio), who fears Cobra Kai's toxic Karate methods will be instilled into a new generation of kids. Nostalgic and surprisingly funny, Cobra Kai is a must-watch for fans of The Karate Kid.
In Netflix's latest foray into blockbuster movie territory, an ex-soldier (Jamie Foxx), a teen (Dominique Fishback) and a cop (Joseph Gordon Levitt) collide in New Orleans as they hunt for the source behind a dangerous new pill that grants users temporary superpowers. Looking a bit like a street-wise version of X-Men, Project Power may very well be Netflix's next big hit film.
...and the rest for August 2020

The videostreaming services, otherwise known as OTT platforms, are getting highhly competitive. Zee5, the OTT platform from the Essel Group, has launched an entry-level sucscription pack that will provide access to television shows, originals and Alt Balaji shows. Priced competitively at Rs 365, the Zee5 Club yearly subscription includes access to around 1000 movies, ZEE Zindagi shows and over 90 Live TV channels without advertisements.
Zee5 India Senior Vice-President and Head SVOD Rahul Maroli said the pricing would make it clear that the target group of the pack is women in the age group of 24-50 who watch soaps on a daily basis and youngsters in the age group of 18-30 who are keen on youth-oriented web series from Zee5 and Alt Balaji. "Zee5 Club will help us to board every Indian and provide them with a hyper-personalised and a seamless content viewing experience at Rs 365 year, ” he said.
According to Maroli based on their research it emerged that a large number of people want to consume television content at their own convenience of time and devices.
“We are a customer-obsessed OTT platform and the launch of Zee5 Club is a result of the feedback we received from our consumers."
Besides regular content, some of Zee’s popular TV shows like Kumum Bhagya and Kundali Bhagya in Hindi, Sembaruthi in Tamil, Jothe Jotheyali in Kannada and Mazya Navryachi Bayko in Marathi would be available on Zee5 Club before telecast on television.
The OTT platforms in India are getting aggressive in their pricing.
Amazon Prime Video is priced at Rs 129 per month. Times Internet's MX Player is currently available on a free ad-supported model.
Star India subsidiary Hotstar is giving some free content on its OTT platform to expand its reach in tier-II and tier-III cities.
Hotstar also has subscription plans that start at Rs 299. Netflix offers a mobile-only plan at Rs 199 per month. But its standard plans start at Rs 499 per month. Viacom18's video streaming service Voot also offers paid subscriptions ranging from Rs 99 per month to Rs 499 per year.
Zee5 apart from launching a new entry level pack is also trying to woo the auidence in multiple ways.
The competition is heavy and Zee5 is coming up with the right plan at the right time when all the OTT services are restoring HD content on their platforms after a slight gap to aid the network traffic during the lockdown.
