While USB flash drives are ubiquitous today, a portable SSD is usually the superior choice when you need to transfer large files or undertake tasks that require high-speed data access.

Silicon Power (SP), has launched the PX10, a lightweight PCIe USB 3.2 Gen 2 portable SSD that offers affordability, speed, large storage options, and military-grade durability.

The new product is available in 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB storage capacities, and boasts read and write speeds of up to 1,050MB/s. It also supports Apple ProRes, making it a great choice for content creators, professionals, and iPhone 15 Pro/Pro Max users.

Speed, durability and style

Thanks to its PCIe USB 3.2 Gen 2 interface, the PX10 can upload a 10GB 4K video in just 15 seconds. The product comes with a USB-C to USB-C cable for faster data syncing and backup.

To ensure data integrity, the PX10 has undergone rigorous military-grade drop testing (MIL-STD 810H 516.8 certified), surviving accidental drops up to 1.2 meters.

With a slim profile of just 103.4 mm x 33mm x 10.3mm, and a weight of 33g, the PX10 features an aluminum shell for optimal heat dissipation, making it suitable for extended, intensive usage.

In addition to its technical capabilities, the PX10 also has a stylish design. With a nod (no doubt) to Barbie's cultural impact in 2023, the drive is available in pastel pink as well as its classic black color scheme in certain markets.

The Silicon Power PX10 is available for purchase in black here, priced at $79.99 for the 1TB model, $119 for 2TB, and $209.99 for 4TB.

As you might expect, the pink variation comes at a premium. It's priced at $84.99 for 1TB, $129.99 for 2TB, and $224.99 for 4TB. You can purchase the pink version here.

Spotify appears to be doubling down AI-powered features with plans to bring AI-generated playlists to the app.

A chatbot feature was spotted by @robdad_, a user on TikTok, who posted a video showing them trying out the new feature and commented: “I just randomly discovered Spotify’s ChatGPT?” Spotify then confirmed to TechCrunch that a new AI playlist feature, plans for which were first spotted in October, is currently being tested, although it didn’t give any indication as to when it might be launched.

In the video, a description of the feature, which is only available in English, reads ‘Turn your ideas into playlists using AI’. It can be found on the ‘Your Library’ page by selecting the plus (+) button, and from there, the pop-up will show an ‘AI Playlist' option alongside Spotify’s current ‘Playlist’ and ‘Blend’ features.

@robdad_ ♬ Heavy Metal Lover overlapped - jinxknsaudios

Once you have selected the AI Playlist feature you’ll be taken to a chatbot page where you can enter a custom prompt to generate a playlist or choose from a variety of suggested prompts. In the video, the prompt ‘Explore a niche genre like Witch House’ was a clear standout. When you select a prompt a sample playlist is generated, giving you the option to remove songs by swiping left to refine the final result.

While it’s currently only in testing, this AI feature looks like it will offer exciting new ways for music lovers to discover new artists and genres. Spotify hasn’t disclosed any further information about its plan for AI-powered playlists, but we hope to see it rolled out to users in the not-to-distant future.

Given Spotify’s recent innovations with AI, it wouldn’t be a total surprise if the playlists feature were to become part of Spotify's next big update. At the start of the year, Spotify dipped its toes in the AI waters by launching Spotify AI DJ, a more personal version of a standard recommended playlist.

Netflix has revealed its plans for the future of its gaming initiative, confirming it has almost 90 games currently in development.

"It's been just two years since we announced our ambition to make Netflix a destination for must-play games," Netflix's vice president of games, Mike Verdu, wrote in a new blog post. "While we’re still early in the journey, this last year we made foundational strides toward this goal."

Netflix has already launched 40 titles since the start of its shift to video games, which includes Grand Theft Auto Trilogy - The Definitive Edition which is set to arrive on the platform today (December 14), as well as its first two internally developed games, including Night School’s Oxenfree 2: Lost Signals and Netflix Stories: Love is Blind.

In terms of what's next, Netflix says by the year's end it'll have 86 games available on the subscription service and revealed that "with nearly 90 more games in development, we’re just getting started."

The majority of these games haven't been announced just yet, but Netflix did share that four will be launching in 2024.

Those include Cozy Grove: Camp Spirit, the sequel to life sim Cozy Grove from the company's internal studio Spry Fox, along with FashionVerse, Game Dev Tycoon, and Sonic Mania Plus

Also coming to Netflix is a Rebel Moon game based on Zack Snyder's upcoming movie Rebel Moon - Part One: A Child of Fire, which will be developed by Super Evil Megacorp.

There aren't many details to go by yet, but we know it will be a four-player co-op game and will take place after the events of A Child of Fire and Rebel Moon - Part Two: The Scargiver.

In addition, a game set in the universe of the popular South Korean series Squid Game has also been announced where users will "compete with other players in games from the hit series."

Netflix's current library of games is available with every Netflix membership without ads, in-app purchases, or extra fees.

Browse through Seagate's repertoire of enterprise hard drives and you'll see some of the best HDDs you can buy, but one that's absent from its listings and nearly impossible to get ahold of is the Exos X26z.

This 3.5-inch 25TB enterprise hard drive is unlike any other, in that it's a host-managed shingled magnetic recording (HM-SMR) unit, and doesn't work on either Windows or MacOS – the two most popular desktop operating systems. Instead, you'll need a Linux distro to successfully integrate into your IT infrastructure.

It's also unobtainable through regular channels and is created exclusively for Seagate's largest enterprise customer. Indeed, these drives are really only useful for the largest hyperscalers in that they can increase the capacity per slot by 25% versus conventional hard drives. This is according to Storage Review, which was able to obtain one of these mercurial units through eBay.

How does Seagate's biggest hard drive perform?

Storage Review tested Seagate's 25TB hard drive, the largest currently obtainable, in several benchmarks against the firm's 20TB IonWolf Pro device.

The X26z HDD managed to hit speeds that were close to The IonWolf Pro on Sequential 128K Read and Sequential 128 Write tests – 274MB/s and 270MB/s respectively, versus 278MB/s and 286MB/s.

On Random 4K Read the X26z hit 2,121 IOPS, versus 233 IOPS in the IronWolf Pro. But on Random 4K Writes, the Exos hard drive sadly failed after 2 IOPS, while the IronWolf Pro hit 313 IOPS. Nonetheless, figures for 4K reads are impressive.

But these hard drives, despite being an impressive option for data center customers, are almost not worth pursuing if you don't have immediate access given that a new technology – heat assisted magnetic recording (HAMR) – is just around the corner.

Both Seagate and Western Digital are working on building HDDs that exceed 30TB, using this technology, which are expected to launch during 2024. Built for enterprises, they'll be able to top the biggest hard drives on the market today – and are only the beginning, with work going into building hard drives that can eventually reach 100TB.

If you’re an avid YouTube user, you’re most likely in the loop with its seemingly never-ending selection of primetime channels. Now, viewers in the US can watch movies and shows from the ad-free tier of Max on YouTube Primetime following an announcement from Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD).

Max has become the most recent Primetime inductee, joining more than 35 channels including Paramount Plus, Hayu, and Starz. In a post announcing the news, WBD says its integration with YouTube will offer customers access to its most popular content across its various brands, which range from Food Network to TLC, plus content from Warner Bros. Pictures. Viewers will be able to subscribe and watch on YouTube and pay via their Google account.

Max’s arrival on YouTube Primetime channels is another step in WBD’s push to make the platform available to a wider audience. As it stands, Max’s with-ads tier is priced at $9.99 a month, and its standard ad-free tier is $15.99 a month. There’s also an ultimate ad-free tier available for $19.99 a month. This integration may encourage more people to sign up for that more expensive tier.

YouTube primetime channels are similar to Amazon Prime Channels, providing a way of letting customers stream their favorite platforms through YouTube, making it easier for viewers to access different subscription services from one place.

As YouTube continues to expand as an entertainment platform, it’s becoming clear that it’s close to becoming the go-to streaming service for Google customers.

The addition of Max to YouTube primetime channels follows the recent news of Google terminating its Play Movies & TV, where customers will have their purchased content migrated to their YouTube accounts under the ‘Movies & TV’ section. YouTube is also set to become Google’s new home for podcasts, with Google Podcasts set to shut down in April 2024.

YouTube also recently rolled out its Multiview feature, which gives sports fans the option to experience four different games at once.
