The iQoo 7 Legend is looking to set performance records when it launches in India later this month. New information suggests that it will top Antutu Benchmark with a score that is significantly higher than the competition.

Confirmed to be unveiled towards the end of April, the iQoo 7 Legend will be powered by the Snapdragon 888 chipset. Its price in India is teased to be under Rs 40,000, even for the top variant – making it the cheapest Snapdragon 888-powered smartphone by quite a margin. It looks like that’s not the only record the iQoo 7 Legend has its eyes on.

Leakster Mukul Sharma aka Stufflistings took to Twitter to share a screenshot of the iQoo 7 Legend’s Antutu Benchmark score. With an overall score of 8,31,200, it beats the Asus ROG Phone 5’s score of 7,31,376 by quite a margin – setting a new bar for performance on synthetic benchmarks and claiming the pole position.

It’s unclear how the iQoo 7 Legend has achieved this score, as all the other Snapdragon 888 flagships have scores around the 700K mark. Software-hardware optimizations are unlikely to be so effective. However, synthetic benchmarks are usually not difficult to fake or whitelist, triggering some sort of overclocking which could lead to a burst of higher performance. We implore you to take this score with a grain of salt and wait for reviews to see if they are actually achievable.

Apart from that, the iQoo 7 Legend could also be the first smartphone in India to offer 120W fast charging, which is claimed to fully recharge the 4,000mAh battery in about 15 minutes — unless that feature is axed on the local variant to keep the price low.

Other iQoo 7 Legend specifications include UFS 3.1 storage, LPDDR5 RAM, a triple camera array with a 48MP primary sensor, an ultra-wide lens and a telephoto shooter, a 120Hz Super AMOLED display, etc.

It's been a while since we've seen any fresh footage from Jason Reitman's upcoming Ghostbusters: Afterlife movie, but now Sony Pictures has remedied that with a brand new clip focusing on some of the film's adorable new characters – and we're not even counting Paul Rudd among them!

The clip sees Rudd perusing a supermarket, starting at the Baskin-Robbins portion of the ice cream section (in a nice throwback to the running Baskin-Robbins gag from Ant-Man) before turning his attention to the toppings aisle.

Right as he's walking away, Rudd's character spots a packet of Stay-Puft marshmallows on a shelf that appears to be moving. It's in that moment that a sweet little marshmallow man breaks out of the packet to introduce himself, only to immediately turn into a little devil alongside dozens of his hell-raising marshmallow buddies.

Why we have high hopes for Ghostbusters: Afterlife

While the first trailer for Ghostbusters: Afterlife initially surprised everyone with its startlingly different tone, appearing more like a classy sci-fi adventure in the vein of Super 8, this new clip reassures us that the film will retain the comedic, goofy charm that made the original movies so fun.

It's also promising to hear original Ghostbusters actor Bill Murray say that Ghostbusters: Afterlife will be worth the wait, even if the 70-year-old did reveal in a recent interview that it was "really hard" to film.

That said, we do hope that Reitman and Co. allow the film to have some truly scary moments alongside the cute ones, or else it could end up being more Goosebumps than Ghostbusters.

Ghostbusters: Afterlife is currently planned for theatrical release on November 11, 2021. At present, there's no word as to when the film will be released digitally.

Apple has announced that it would start enforcing in a few weeks a new privacy notification rule that some digital advertising firms have warned could hurt their sales.

Apple said the notices would be compulsory when its iOS 14.5 operating system becomes available soon.

It is not clear when the update is being rolled out.

Apple said providing developers with alternative advertising tools ahead of the change.

Why are Apple and FB at loggerheads?

At the core of the disagreement between Apple and other digital advertising firms like Facebook is seeking users' permission before app tracking activities kick in.

Apple's one-time notices will make it mandatory for app developers to have users' permission before the app tracks activities "across other companies' apps and website".

The fear of Facebook and others is that such warnings could make users wary, and may eventually decline permission.

Until recently, app developers could roll in software development kits (SDKs) to help them track their users by capturing several attributes from devices, such as the device model, IP address and more. .

Under the guise of better understanding their audience, many iOS apps collected this data to sell advertisements. It is this behaviour that Apple has been very vocal against for quite some time.

Apple had made the announcement in June last, but a pushback from the digital advertising industry meant it held back the change. Some app developers are already displaying the notice on a voluntary basis.

It seems the fight will intensify

Understanding the misgivings, Apple announced alternative advertising tools for developers.

One of the tools allows those running app installation ads to see how many people installed an app after the ad campaign without divulging information on individuals.

Another of the tools, named private-click management, has a way to measure when a user clicks an ad inside an app and is taken to a web page, but without revealing data about the individual user.

Although the tools are intended to be used by software developers, Apple added information about them to one of its privacy guides for consumers on Wednesday.

And Apple's Tim Cook did not leave anyone in doubt about where the whole thing is going. In a recent interview to a podcast, he said: “What we’re doing is giving the user the choice whether to be tracked or not. And I think it’s hard to argue against that.”

Facebook, for its part, has been fuming about the change, which threatens the source of its $86 billion in annual revenue: targeted ads. The social network has waged a months-long campaign against Apple, and testing pop-ups inside the Facebook app to encourage users to accept its tracking. It has also alleged that Apple's changes are designed to help the iPhone maker's own business, rather than protect consumer privacy.

"Apple may say that they're doing this to help people, but the moves clearly track their competitive interests," Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg had said in January.

Competition is heating up in the NBN’s top speed tiers, with a number of internet providers offering discounted rates for new customers. After slashing the price of its NBN 250 plan, Telstra now has one of the cheapest (and best) NBN 250 plans in the market.

To keep up with the competition, the telco giant has drastically cut the cost of the plan down to AU$90 a month, which is the same price you’ll pay for Telstra’s NBN 50 plan. That’s an incredible discount of AU$50 each month on Telstra’s NBN 250 plan, or a whopping AU$300 saved over six months.

The discount will only apply for your first six months on Telstra’s super-fast plan, after which it will increase to the regular price of AU$140 a month. Though because Telstra’s plans come with no lock-in contract, you’re free to move to a cheaper plan after the initial discount ends to avoid the price rise.

Telstra has recently put a definitive figure to its NBN 250 plan speeds too, quoting the tier as having a typical download rate of 230Mbps during the busy evening hours. That speed is currently only bested by Aussie Broadband’s equivalent plan, which has a typical evening speed of 248Mbps.

It’s not the only discounted plan either, Telstra has also slashed AU$50 off its ultra-fast NBN 1000 plan, bringing it down to AU$130 a month for the first six months. After the initial discount ends, your bill will jump up to the standard price of AU$180 a month.

Telstra’s NBN 1000 offer isn’t the cheapest out there – for that, check out MyRepublic’s plan for just AU$99 a month – but if you must go with Telstra, this is a great opportunity to save some serious cash.

The telco’s NBN 1000 plan comes with an excellent typical download speed of 700Mbps in the evenings, though be aware that once the discount ends, you’ll be paying for the most expensive NBN 1000 plan on the market at AU$180p/m.
