Latest Tech News

The Xbox Series X restock date and time for each retailer will be tweeted as soon as the Microsoft console is back in stock at any store, including Best Buy, Walmart, GameStop, Target and Amazon, among others. You can follow our Xbox restock Twitter tracker, Matt Swider, as his account points you to the US retailer with next-gen console inventory – while it lasts. It often sells out in three minutes or less.

To get advance notice, follow Matt Swider, our Xbox restock tracker:

Our Xbox Series X restock alerts look like this (for example):

Antonline Xbox Series X restock date

  • Next restock date: Likely this week – always at least one next-gen drop weekly
  • Last Xbox Series X restock date: Wednesday, March 17
  • Wait time: Online only, fast shipping (sells out quickly)
  • Follow our Twitter tracker to get alerts

Antonline has a console restock at least once a week, according to the retailer's official Twitter account, and that means we can expect to see the Xbox Series X in stock soon. Antonline has become the surprise favorite store of gamers since the next-gen consoles launched in November because ships consoles fast. It also doesn't play games with its add to cart button during a restock. Just be prepared to pay face value for games and accessories, which we see as a benefit as it turns off resellers.

Our last Antonline Xbox Series X restock alert from Wednesday, March 17:

Target Xbox Series X restock date

The next Target Xbox restock may be Thursday, April 8. You see, we usually get a next-gen restock from Target every two weeks, and while we did see an off-schedule and very limited PS5 restock on Wednesday, March 30 and before that the usual Thursday, March 25 (two weeks after the prior drop on March 11), there was no Xbox on sale on the latter date. So Target may go four weeks between Xbox drops.

Know this: Target likes to go early – we've been seeing stocks between 7am EDT and 9am EDT. Sorry, everyone in the West coast of the United States. The last time we saw the Xbox drop it was at around 6am PDT.

Here's our Target Xbox Series X restock alert from Thursday, March 11:

Best Buy Xbox Series X restock date

The Xbox Series X restock at Walmart and Best Buy didn't happen as expected last week, and we know of new inventory at Best Buy warehouses. That's good news if you're eager to buy Xbox Series X in April. Stores in the US are stockpiling the Microsoft consoles, and we hope to see it from Walmart, Best Buy and Amazon; all are now overdue for a restock.

We usually see Xbox Series X orders open up at Best Buy on Fridays at 12pm EDT / 11am CDT / 10am MDT / 9am PDT, or a few minutes after that time. We've seen it as late as 3:15pm EDT once, however, Best Buy completely missed this window. There's now more hope that it'll have an even bigger restock on Friday, April 9.

Divider

GameStop Xbox Series X restock date

The GameStop Xbox Series X restock could be later this week or early next week, as the games retailer has been sticking to a week to week-and-a-half cadence. We did see a rare morning restock on Friday, April 2, however, that was limited to Xbox Series S bundles (and PS5), so we're not sure if that counts or not (we do know that most retailers we talk to have fewer Xbox Series X consoles on hand than any other next-gen console, so the Series X being skipped over isn't very surprising).

The last Xbox Series X drop was Tuesday, March 23, so we're overdue for a restock. Note: GameStop routinely restricts its Xbox Series X restock to bundles, and while it can cost more, it makes buying the new Xbox much easier because resellers have a more difficult time profiting from the packed-in games and accessories (which are all readily available). We usually know in advance when a GameStop restock happens.

Our Xbox Series X restock Twitter tracker alert for GameStop will look like:

Divider

Walmart Xbox Series X restock date

No Walmart Xbox Series X restock happened on Thursday, April 1 at 2:30pm EDT / 11:30am PDT, even if the retailer has been doing every other Thursday for the last month. Looking more broadly, it does have a one-month gap between cycles, so we might not see the Xbox Series X back in stock before Thursday, April 18, according to that broader pattern. The next PS5 Walmart restock date will almost certainly rely on how much inventory it has at its warehouses, meaning its cadence can change.

Here's what our last Walmart Xbox stock alert looked like on March 18:

Divider

Best Buy Xbox Series X restock date

There has been a next-gen restock at Best Buy for six weeks in a row on a Friday, and while the Microsoft console missed one of those weeks (there was still a PS5 restock to keep the trend alive), the retailer didn't go seven-for-seven this week. But all the more reason we expect inventory to shift to next Friday.

We typically see the restock time occur between 12pm and 3pm EDT. Remember, this is an online-only order with an in-store pickup, usually scheduled for 3 to 5 days later.

Divider

Amazon Xbox Series X restock date

We saw a surprise Xbox Series X restock at Amazon on Tuesday, March 23, and our restock tracker sent out an alert as soon as it happened. Even with that, the restock lasted just two minutes for the Series X. We also saw the Series S in stock it lasted a bit longer, but it has since sold out. There have only been a handful of Amazon Xbox restock dates since the console launched in November 2020, so we're unsure of when it'll be back in stock. We'll update this section when we know more.

New: We've been told by one source that they've seen more Xbox Series X consoles in warehouses that PS5 consoles, so we may actually be due another round of the Microsoft console before we ever see another restock from its biggest rival.

Here's what our Amazon Xbox restock alert looked like on Tuesday, March 23

Divider

Microsoft Xbox Series X restock date

The official Microsoft Xbox store often has the Series X console in stock throughout the week, however, it sells out in three minutes or less, according to our restock Twitter tracker account.

The secret: some people either cancel their orders midway through the process, or their credit card gets rejected, so do keep refreshing when we send out the Xbox restock alert. You may get lucky in scooping up a console that gets kicked back into the inventory system after five or fifteen minutes.

Latest Tech News

Warner Bros. is reportedly reconsidering its simultaneous theatrical and streaming release plan for the star-studded sci-fi epic Dune, according to a new report from Deadline.

The report suggests that Warner Bros. remains undecided about Dune's release approach, citing the monstrous theatrical success of Legendary Entertainment's Godzilla vs. Kong as a contributing factor.

Godzilla vs. Kong raked in an enormous $48.5 million at the domestic box office over the Easter long weekend, so far earning $285.8 million globally, making it by far the biggest theatrical hit since the pandemic began – this despite its day-one availability on HBO Max.

"This movie represents a way for people to slowly re-introduce themselves into a social environment," said Josh Grode, CEO of Legendary Entertainment in a statement to Deadline.

He continued, "Heading back to movie theaters and learning we’re not going to get sick; it’s these steps we’re taking over the next two to three months to get back to the normalcy of life."

Why delaying Dune's streaming release would be good

Dune has been part of HBO Max's 'Same Day Premieres' slate since late last year, when it was announced that the studio's entire 2021 lineup would land on HBO Max and in theaters at the same time.

The decision by Warner Media enraged Dune director Denis Villeneuve, who publicly criticized the move in an open letter to Variety, stating that "Warner Bros.’ decision means Dune won’t have the chance to perform financially in order to be viable and piracy will ultimately triumph."

That said, Warner Bros. has since indicated that it will update its release strategy beyond 2021, having already inked a deal with Regal Cinemas that would give the US theater chain an exclusive 45-day theatrical window for Warner Bros. films starting in 2022.

At present, Dune is scheduled to arrive in theaters and on HBO Max on October 1, 2021. However, if Warner Bros. were to make a special concession for the film and provide it with that same 45-day release window, it might allow the film to earn enough money at the box office to make the Dune franchise commercially viable.

Additionally, were Dune to be given this kind of release, it would not only please Villeneuve, it would also allow HBO Max to keep the film within its 2021 streaming lineup as originally promised.

Latest Tech News

Over the last few days, it's been revealed that the personal data of hundreds of millions of Facebook users around the globe has been leaked online.

More specifically, over 533 million accounts from 106 countries that contain phone numbers, full names, locations, email addresses and other sensitive information have been found posted publicly in a hacking forum.

According to a Facebook spokesperson on Twitter,  "this is old data that was previously reported on in 2019. [Facebook] found and fixed this issue in August 2019."

For those of us who might still have the same full name, birth date, mobile number, physical address, or email address that we did in 2019, this leaked data is still sensitive – here's how to find out if your details were among the leaked.

Checking to see if you're affected is very simple: just visit Have I Been Pwned and enter your email address.

The site is the project of security researcher Troy Hunt and is dedicated to alerting people to whether or not their personal details have been leaked in any of the major documented security breaches, including this recent Facebook incident.

If your email address (and its associated account) has been leaked in any of the breaches, Have I Been Pwned will let you know which particular breach it was involved in, and the site or service that was affected.

Patching up the leaks

If you've found yourself victim to this recent Facebook breach, or any other, it's recommended that you change your passwords to the affected account and any other account associated with the email address.

For additional security, a password manager service can be useful in making and securely storing particularly strong and unique passwords that are unlikely to be guessed.

Whether or not your details show up in the above site's search tool, it's a good idea to practice strong online security either way, and institute two-factor authentication (2FA) in any online service that offers it, ensuring that you'll need a second security check (such as a message sent to your phone) in order to access your account or change your details.
