Latest Tech News

Around the world, it's become second nature for people to navigate their way through cities and streets via Google Maps, but now the tech giant has announced you'll soon be able to bring some of that power to indoor spaces as well.

The latest post on Google's blog lists a host of AI-powered updates that will be rolling out over the course of the year to Google Maps, and chief among them is an Indoor Live View.

Google Maps has already implemented Live View for a while now – a feature which uses the company's wealth of Street View footage to determine specific directions and overlay them over live footage from your camera, creating an augmented reality (AR) directional tool.

Indoor Live View, as its name suggests, is the same feature but will also operate in a number of key indoor locations such as malls, airports, and other transit stations.

According to Google, this new feature "can help you find the nearest elevator and escalators, your gate, platform, baggage claim, check-in counters, ticket office, restrooms, ATMs and more," so it's clearly a granular tool.

As for availability, the feature is live now on both iOS and Android apps, but is currently only operating in "a number of malls in Chicago, Long Island, Los Angeles, Newark, San Francisco, San Jose, and Seattle," with locations in Tokyo and Zurich rolling out in the coming months and other cities further down the track.

Google Maps and the environment

Along with this key feature, a number of other tools are finding their way to Google Maps, including map layers that provide information on current and forecast weather conditions for specific areas, as well as the air quality in an area (granted there's a nearby Air Quality Index [AQI] station).

The weather layer will roll out globally over the course of the year, and the AQI layer will be coming to the US, India and Australia.

For the environmentally-conscious Google Maps user, you'll soon be able to select a route based on lower fuel consumption and, as a result, lower carbon emissions. This will be calculated based on factors such as high density traffic and road incline.

In fact, Google Maps will default to choosing the more eco-friendly route when the alternatives "has approximately the same ETA," but you'll be given a prompt when it will take significantly longer. In either case, you'll be told how fewer emissions your trip will cause as a percentage.

This feature will land 'later this year' in the US on both Android and iOS, with other countries on the way.

From June, Google Maps will let you know if you'll be driving through low emission zones in global locations and cities that enforce them, and whether or not your vehicle is allowed in them. This feature will be coming to Germany, Netherlands, France, Spain and the UK, with more to follow.

Google is also making the choice between sustainable transport options easier to access with a singular screen within Maps that quickly summarizes all the different modes of transit to your destination and the time they'll take.

This feature will also learn from your habits and location to prioritize certain suitable options higher in the list – you can select your preferred methods manually, but biking options will be preferred if you cycle often, similarly with public transport. This feature is rolling out globally 'in the coming months'.

A number of other features will be coming to the iOS and Android app over the course of the year, including improvements to pickup and delivery details for participating grocery stores and service providers, as well as updates to Assistant Driving Mode.

The next Target PS5 restock date is rumored to be sooner than we thought, and while some Target stores don't have nearly any inventory, we could see other locations with enough PS5 in stock offer the Sony console as soon as this week.

"There's a 50/50 chance Target drops tomorrow: Wednesday, March 31," says YouTuber Jake Randall, who specializes in PS5 restock leaks, and cites corporate emails.

"I'm just as confused as you are. Target doesn't drop with entire regions having no stock, but that's what I'm seeing," he told TechRadar, but notes he's seen emails detailing the sooner-than-expected PS5 drop date.

Your next question: what is the Target PS5 restock time? Glad you asked.

How to know the Target PS5 restock time

Target has done an early morning PS5 restock every other Thursday for the past few months. This Wednesday would change the pattern. Does that mean the store will change from the usual 7am EDT to 8am EDT drop time? That's unknown.

You'll receive a notification – if it happens – that looks like this one from the last Target PS5 restock.

What are the chances this rumor is correct?

We'd wager 50%. It's an odd one. Target changing its restock pattern with little to no supply at certain stores and just enough inventory at others makes us think that the retail chain will pull back and stick to its every-two-weeks restock date: Thursday, April 2 fits that pattern. Or maybe it'll restock a next-gen console this Thursday (it skipped an Xbox Series X restock last Thursday).

At the same time, corporate communications from retailers is often reliable and those same Target sources have been right time and time again. Of course, as we've seen with the Amazon PS5 restock, the restock dates can change without notice.

Target PS5 restock advice

Knowing when Target will restock PS5 is only half the battle. You actually have to checkout with the Sony console and oftentimes that's the hardest part. We have some advice gathered from past PS5 drops that will help.

  • Purchase the PS5 at Target through PayPal: Target's credit card transactions happen on-page, meaning their servers are always bogged down when millions of people are trying to buy the same console. You can't link your PayPal account in advance, but it appears when checking out when there's a drop.
  • Don't give up – refresh: Our PS5 restock Twitter tracker sees replies as soon as we tweet about a Target PS5 drop: "Sold out". These are the people who give up too soon and don't end up with a console. Refresh and try again, often for 30 minutes.
  • Change Target stores: Target is a same-day pickup retailer, meaning once your local stores runs out of stock or begins signaling low stock, you should move on to a different store.
  • You can't buy PS5 in Target stores: Please don't show up pestering customer service reps. You may see people buying a PS5 at your local Target, but you won't be able to make a purchase there. Everyone has to buy it online and then do an in-store pickup.

We suggest watching Randall's advice in. This short video illustrates some of the best tricks on how to buy PS5 at Target.

More PS5 restock to come – potential dates

Walmart PS5 restock date: rumored to be Thursday, April 1 at 3pm EDT
Whether or not there's a PS5 restock, Walmart may be next, with a rumored date of Thursday, April 1 – no joke. The retailer sells the PlayStation 5 every two weeks, and while it has yet to deliver on some consoles from the last PS5 drop, we anticipate to see waves of inventory launch on Thursday at 3pm EDT.

Best Buy PS5 restock date: likely to be Friday, April 2
The Best Buy restock date may be cap off our week on Friday, April 2. The electronics retailer has gone 6-for-6 with Friday next-gen consoles stocks. Will it restock the PS5 seven weekends in a row? We may be able to confirm that soon, as we've done in the past via our exclusive reporting thanks to reliable warehouse sources.

GameStop PS5 restock date: late this week or early next week
The GameStop PS5 restock date may be later this week or early next week. We often get a heads-up right before there's new stock, and the date is usually between one and one-and-a-half weeks after the last restock – that date being Tuesday, March 23. So either expect it on or Thursday April 1, or early next week.

GameStop PS5 consoles and bundles

Amazon PS5 restock – don't know
We just don't know anymore.

Antonline PS5 restock date: just happened
Antonline usually has next-gen console restock every week – Antonline has publicly stated that it has "drops every week" – so because it launched a PS5 bundle today, March 30, we don't anticipate another restock from this retailer in the coming days. However, we'll keep watching in the off-chance there's a PS5 Digital Edition for sale.

We caution getting there on time: Antonline tends to sell out in three minutes, but when it goes on sale, there are no waves or in stock/out of stock funny business with the add to cart button.

Antonline PS5 bundles

Here's what our Antonline restock alert looked like today:

Sony Direct restock date: Often weekdays
The Sony Direct PS5 restock date may be this week, and multiple times this week. It's Sony's official store for the PlayStation brand and one of the more fair ways to buy the console: it uses a lottery system to keep bots at bay. You need a PSN account and it's one PS5 console per address. Its virtual queue is randomized, so we're always "in line" attempting to reach checkout.

Our success rate on getting through? About once every other week when there are 3-4 drops per week. Note: we never buy the PS5 in the end, giving up our spot to the next person and just testing it out for reporting purposes to see if it gets any easier or learn new tricks. One trick we've learned: while having new tabs open won't help your chances, using different browsers and different devices is the best way to get the console from Sony Direct.

And so the Bruins' Cinderella story continues. UCLA could become the first team to go from the First Four all the way to the Final Four since the VCU Rams managed it 10 years ago. But standing in their way are the mighty Michigan Wolverines, the 2018 runners-up and the No. 1 seed in the East Region. Read on as we explain how to get a Michigan vs UCLA live stream and watch March Madness from anywhere in the world.

Michigan vs UCLA live stream: March Madness

Date: Tuesday, March 30

Venue: Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis, Indiana

Both teams have been on fire in Indiana.

11th seeded UCLA has been the ultimate March Madness underdog, knocking out No. 2 seed Alabama and No. 6 seed BYU on its way to the Elite Eight, while Michigan destroyed 4th seed Florida State in the last round, beating the Seminoles by 18 points.

UCLA needed overtime to stop the hotly tipped Alabama, but the team will need to find another level still to get past the Wolverines. The Bruins have benefited from playing opponents who have been hopeless from the free throw line, but that won't be the case against Michigan.

The Wolverines' size advantage also means the Bruins need to do their utmost to keep their 3-point aim spot on.

Follow our guide below to tune into a March Madness live stream and watch Michigan vs UCLA online from anywhere - including some great ways to watch March Madness free online in certain countries, if you draw up the right play.

Even as India sees a worrying resurgence in the number of reported Covid-19 cases, the Indian government is getting ready to further expand the ongoing vaccination process. The CoWIN portal, which is India's nodal platform for the complete vaccination programme, has been improved to handle one crore registrations and help vaccinate at least 50 lakh persons per day.

According to the Indian government, the portal's handling capacity has been scaled up as it has allowed vaccination for anyone aged 45 or above.

This phase kicks in from April 1.

Software tweaked to make registration easy

Reports also have it that the user interface on the registration platform has been improved. Further, the government said that other existing features have been tweaked for easy understanding and accessibility to the larger bulk of the population that would doubtless make a beeline to the portal as the vaccination process kicks into overdrive.

The portal's software has also been changed and there is no need for uploading the  comorbidity certificate at the time of registration.

It has also done away with the automatic booking of slots for the second jab of the vaccine. People can now register for it within 6-8 weeks of their first dose.

An hourly monitoring mechanism has been put in place to track the progress of vaccination drives.

Over 6 crore vaccinated till now

As of now, daily vaccination in India is pegged around the 30 lakh mark. This is expected to nearly double in the coming days.

India has so far vaccinated over six crore people since January 15 when it first began vaccinating healthcare and other frontline workers.

The highest vaccination in a day was registered on March 22 when close to 27.5 lakh people got the first dose while three lakh people got their the second dose.

But one of the complaints has been that registering on the platform is time-consuming and the system is slow to respond.

Aside from new people seeking vaccination, those requiring the second jab will also start registering.

In the event, it was imperative that the government scaled up the backend operations of the portal.

The CoWIN platform was jointly developed and run by the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Electronics and IT.
