Why get restock alerts? On average, the Xbox sells out in less than three minutes when retailers don't hold back and release inventory on waves. That's why it's important to get an Xbox restock alert on minute one.

Target Xbox Series X restock date

Analysis: The next Target Xbox restock may happen on Thursday, March 25, if the US retailer keeps to its pattern of doing Xbox drops at 7:45am EDT every week. The time isn't favorable for people living on the West coast, so don't disrupt for sleep schedule just to buy a gaming console. Several Target stores we talked to have Xbox Series X inventory, while others do not, and near nationwide stock is required before Target turns on those add to cart buttons. We'll keep you posted on Xbox shipment intel.  

Walmart Xbox Series X restock date

Analysis: Thursday, March 25 is the next Walmart Xbox Series X restock, according to an official Walmart spokesperson who gave TechRadar a heads-up last week. And sure enough, the Walmart product page for new Xbox notes that it'll be back in stock at 3pm EDT on that date. Two things to know: this is for the Xbox All-Access bundle, which puts you on a finance plan for $34.99 a month for 24 months instead of paying for all of its up front. It also includes Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for this price. Second, there's unlikely to be a PS5 restock at Walmart this week.

Amazon Xbox Series X restock

Analysis: We saw a surprise Xbox Series X restock at Amazon on Tuesday, March 23, and our restock tracker sent out an alert as soon as it happened. Even with that, the restock lasted just two minutes. The Series S came in stock and lasted a bit longer, but it has since sold out. Amazon hasn't done too many restocks, so we don't expect it to be back this week.

Best Buy Xbox Series X restock date

Analysis: We're giving the Xbox Series X Best Buy restock date of Friday, March 26 a 60% probability. There are a lot of people 'confirming' that it's happening simply because Best Buy has turned on its add to cart buttons for online order (with in-store pickup in 3-10 days) every Friday for the past five Fridays. It matches the Best Buy pattern, however, the electronics retailer has had less and less inventory of its consoles. This week could be a catch-up week – but if it happens, expect to see the Xbox Series X go on sale around 12pm EDT or 3pm EDT based on past restock dates.

GameStop Xbox Series X restock date

Analysis: Mid-week is when to start looking out for the next Xbox Series X restock at GameStop, so starting on Tuesday, March 23 through Thursday March 26. GameStop tends to choose late afternoon Xbox drop times. Once, recently, it was in the early evening. The last time the Microsoft console was in stock at GameStop was March 9, so it's overdue.

Analysis: The official Microsoft Xbox store often has the Series X console in stock throughout the week, however, it sells out in three minutes or less, according to our restock Twitter tracker account. The secret is that some people either cancel their orders midway through the process, or their credit card gets rejected, so do keep refreshing when we send out the Xbox restock alert. You may get lucky in scooping up a console that gets kicked back into the inventory system after five or fifteen minutes. 

Antonline Xbox Series X restock date

Analysis: Antonline has become the surprise favorite store of gamers since the next-gen consoles launched in November simply because it sends out order confirmation numbers quickly and ships consoles soon after. It also doesn't play games with its add to cart button during a restock. Once our Xbox Series X restock alert goes out, the bundle is buyable until it's gone. Just be prepared to pay face value for games and accessories, which we see as a benefit as it turns off resellers.

There's been an Amazon 4K streaming available in other markets for a while now, but the online retail giant has finally launched the Fire TV Stick 4K in Australia – and it's the brand-new 2021 release.

Other than accessing 4K content, this plug-and-play streaming device has support for Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos, HDR and HDR10+ as well. It also comes with a brand-new (2021 edition) of the Alexa Voice Remote that lets you launch your favourite shows and movies across several apps by using a simple voice command. It will also allow you to adjust volume.

The Fire TV Stick 4K isn't the only new streaming device Amazon has announced. There's now a 2021 update to the original Fire TV Stick as well. This, too, comes with the latest version of the Alexa Voice Remote so you can control any regular telly with voice commands. Compared to the older Fire TV Stick, the 2021 edition promises to be faster, thanks to its built-in 1.7GHz processor.

Both the Fire TV Stick 4K and the Fire TV Stick (2021 release) are already available for pre-order on Amazon Australia and will begin shipping from April 21, 2021. The Fire TV Stick 4K will set you back AU$99, while the new Fire TV Stick is just AU$79 (the same price as its predecessor).

Amazon says that the 2021 edition of the Alexa Voice Remote is also available for purchase separately for AU$54, although it's not yet listed for pre-order on the online marketplace.

With Twitter, Facebook and Telegram quickly coming up with alternatives, there is an imperative need for social audio app Clubhouse to scale to millions of new users if it is serious about its growth. For that it needs to be available on Android platform as early as possible.

Till now Clubhouse while suggesting that its Android version was in the works had not specified any time to it.

Now its founder Paul Davison, in a recent Town Hall update, has said that the Android version "looks to be a couple of months away."

A TechCrunch report said Clubhouse also plans to bring in more tweaks to the app’s 'Activity feed', and also add new tools to give users more control over their push notifications.

New updates like showing users a personalized list of suggested rooms that appear on screen when they first open the app are also on cards.

Clubhouse under pressure as rivals up the ante

As we said, Clubhouse has to fend of its adversaries Twitter, Facebook, Telegram et al as they all have upped their game on audio chat rooms stakes.

Twitter Spaces is in beta mode on Android, and while Facebook is working on audio-only Messenger Rooms as its alternative. Telegram has unveiled its Voice Chat 2.0 in its latest update.

The advantage for Clubhouse's main rivals is that they already have an established presence and their scalability is relatively easier. Further, they have more options to make their offerings more engaging.

It is a challenge that Clubhouse is aware of and that is why it is working on interesting tweaks to its existing offering.

The main challenge for Clubhouse may lie in coming up with personalization for users to identify live chats that will be of relevance to them.

Clubhouse is also mulling the idea of giving the chop to invite-only set up, and move towards opening up the platform to everyone, so that it sheds the tag of it being a 'snob club'.

Clubhouse, currently on iOS alone, has an invite-based entry system. But has created a niche for itself in a very short period.

Spotify has announced an update for its mobile app on both iOS and Android platforms that introduces new ways for users to access their recently played tracks, as well as discover new music.

The redesigned Home interface will begin rolling out to users globally this month and features updates for both free members and Premium subscribers.

The update adds or adjusts three main features – improved access to listening history, podcast tracking and discovery, and a more prominent and reactive 'new release' section.

The first of these takes the shape of a small 'history' icon at the top of the Home screen, next to the settings cog, which displays up to three months of listening history in the form of individual tracks, including the playlists or albums these songs were accessed from.

For Premium subscribers, the six tiles that sit at the top of the Home screen will now show progress bars over podcast episodes you've already started, as well as displaying new episodes for followed podcasts, marked with a blue dot.

Finally, another Premium-exclusive feature is a new section that will sit just under these six tiles to highlight new releases from followed artists, which Spotify claims will be "personalized, timely, and reactive to your taste".

Listening habits

A side-effect of music streaming services and their 'recently played' sections is that they make it rather easy to fall into cyclical listening habits. Often, this can come at the expense of discovering newer music, or even rediscovering artists from your not-so-distant past.

While Spotify has arguably worked to combat this with its focus on discovery – powered by its famous algorithm – this latest update could wind up helping as much as hindering listeners.

The removal of a 'recently played' tile section from the home screen will no doubt assist in kicking these habits, as will the dilution of the top six tiles with new podcast content and the additional 'new release' section. 

But what about that 3-month listening history? While this isn't shown directly on the home screen, it's only one click away and is more detailed than ever. There's a strong possibility that this timeframe will be large enough to shake listeners out of shorter listening loops but, on the other hand, may just enable the habits to take hold more thoroughly thanks to its granularity.

It's as yet unclear how 'reactive' the new release section will be – we hope it lives up the company's claim – as a constantly refreshing sampler of new content will go a long way in breaking these listening cycles.

Samsung Galaxy had recently unveiled its 'Adaptive Frequency' low-power OLED display technology and said it was using them in its Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G smartphones.

Now it says that it is seeing increasing interest from other global manufacturers for these power-saving display panels. The company said that it is supplying the OLED panels to popular Chinese brands Oppo and OnePlus.

Oppo, which is currently China's largest smartphone manufacturer, uses the OLED panel with adaptive frequency technology for its flagship smartphone lineup, the Find X3. "OPPO said that it is seeing its premium phone's total power consumption cut as much as 46%," Samsung claimed in a press release.

Samsung Display's 6.7-inch panel will also figure in new OnePlus 9 Pro flagship phone.

Samsung Display is also said to be in talks with other major global smartphone makers on the use of its low-power OLED panels, which includes developing low-power materials and optimizing more power-efficient technologies.

What is this adaptive frequency technology?

Adaptive Frequency technology is said to reduce power consumption by automatically adjusting a display's refresh rate for the application being used at any given moment. 

For instance, the adaptive refresh rate enables the OLED panel to reach 120Hz when playing a fast-moving mobile game, 60Hz while streaming a movie, and 30Hz or less when viewing e-mail or texting, according to the company. 

Further, it can allow a refresh rate below 10Hz when the smartphone user is looking at photographs and other still images. 

The new technology has the potential to improve power efficiency even beyond current 60Hz displays, which can usher in increased battery life in upcoming next-gen devices.

"Samsung Display's innovative low-power OLED technology is expected to enable the OnePlus 9 Pro to provide consumers with a number of reasonable battery-saving choices and a more environmentally-conscious user experience in the process," Oliver Zhang, vice president of Product Team at OnePlus was quoted as saying.
