Samsung has announced that it is updating its policies and as a result, it is terminating the Get Location service for its smartwatches. The Get Location feature has proven helpful in tracking a misplaced smartwatch.

An alert about the termination of this service has already been sent to the users of Galaxy Watch 3, Galaxy Watch Active 2 and the Galaxy Watch. In the alert, Samsung has informed users that the Find My Watch feature will remain active even though the Get Location service is being done away with.

If you have one of the above-mentioned Galaxy watches, you can still track it using the Find My Watch feature though it has its limitations. Find My Watch sets off an alert on the watch if it is nearby and helps you find it, however, Get Location service allowed you to get the exact GPS coordinates of the lost watch and was way more accurate and dare we say, helpful.

Of course, we are aware that the Samsung SmartThings Find, which was introduced to Galaxy Watch 3 and Galaxy Active Watch 2 recently, is also capable of doing what Get Location did, albeit in a different manner.

This new feature makes the user of a proximity finder help locate the watch if it were misplaced or lost.  However, the only challenge that a user who doesn't own a Samsung smartphone, would be that they might require to download the app, which we all know would be tough when the device is missing.

In a related piece of news from Samsung, it appears that the company is now looking to make a switch from Tizen and shift towards Wear OS for its upcoming Galaxy Watch. The last time a Galaxy watch ran on Android was when Gear Live was launched way back in 2014.

While the veracity of these reports are yet to be confirmed, it appears that Google has indeed dialled Samsung's number to rekindle their support for Wear OS on the latter's smart wearables.

Even though you can use Your Phone app on Windows to access and send text messages from your smartphone, Samsung is bringing its proprietary messaging app to Windows 10 platform.

The app was recently spotted under the Utilities & tools category on the Microsoft Store and as per the app description, it allows users to send and receive texts from their phone in Windows.

According to Sammobile, the app still seems to be in a limited beta testing phase and is not available in all regions. Looks like Samsung is further limiting the usage of this application to select users who have been invited to download it. The Microsoft Store listing is accompanied by a ‘Redeem a code’ button in most areas that allows users with this specific code to download and test the application.

While there is a very limited amount of information available around this app and its availability, its description suggests that the application is compatible with "devices capable of using mobile data (5G and 4G LTE)." If you have one of Samsung’s always-connected devices running on windows, you may still not be able to use the app as the current compatibility list includes a handful of devices like Galaxy TabPro S, the Galaxy Book 10.6 LTE, Galaxy Book 12 LTE, Galaxy Book 2, and the Galaxy Book Flex 2 5G.

Both the above limitations may change once the app is ready for a wider roll-out. However, you may still need a Samsung smartphone to make use of this application.

That said, Microsoft is already offering the Your Phone app which lets you do way more than just sending a message from your phone. And in case you have one of the few Galaxy devices, you can even stream and pin your Android apps on Windows PC.

Furthermore, Google is offering similar features on the desktop client of Google Messages, hence it makes us wonder what exactly is behind Samsung releasing a custom solution for a problem that, some may argue, doesn’t exist. But then it was Samsung that came up with Bixby as well!

LG’s next flagship, the supposedly-called LG Rainbow, might have been delayed indefinitely after reports emerged that the phone’s pre-release field testing has been put on hold. While the phone was expected to come out in March, it’s unclear if it will come out at all.

LG and mobile network operators chose not to proceed with field testing that was scheduled for the end of February, which would precede a March release window, a source told Korean outlet Chosun

The Rainbow, which followed last year’s LG Velvet, had gotten far enough in development to have produced a prototype that packed a Snapdragon 888 and used a stylus, the report continued.

LG Rainbow: cancelled with the rest of LG’s phone business?

It’s unclear whether the testing will be temporary or result in permanent cancellation of the Rainbow, especially given the contradictory rumors on LG’s phone business. Shortly after CES 2021, the company’s CEO strongly denied that LG’s smartphone department was shuttering, though he reportedly told employees the company was considering withdrawing from phones (among other potential actions) in an internal memo later in the month.

Naturally, that led to doubt that the company’s LG Rollable, which it had publicly revealed during a CES 2021 presentation and confirmed to CNET would be coming later in 2021, may not reach the market at all. The brand denied it has delayed or cancelled the rollable, but time will tell if LG’s great leap in phone tech gets released.

After adding support for vertical tabs last year, Microsoft is now testing a new customization feature in Edge that allows users to resize the vertical tabs panel in its browser.

As reported by Windows Central, Reddit user Leopeva64-2 first spotted the new feature and recently uploaded a GIF of it in action. The option to resize the Vertical Tabs panel is now live for Edge Insiders running Microsoft Edge Canary build 90.0.810.0.

While horizontal tabs have long been the standard way to have multiple websites open in a browser, vertical tabs are quickly becoming a popular alternative due to how they allow users to better utilize screen space and this is especially true on ultrawide monitors.

Resizing the vertical tabs panel

Regardless of whether you have the vertical tab panel pinned in Microsoft Edge, the company's new experimental feature still works and this makes it quite useful.

When contracted, the vertical tabs panel just shows the icons of the websites you have open but the panel can also be expanded if you want to see the full address of each site you have open in a different tab. Edge users can hover their cursor over the panel to expand it or they can pin it to keep it expanded.

Now that Microsoft has added the option to resize the vertical tabs panel in its browser, users can click and drag the panel to change its size. However, when pinned, the panel stays expanded at all times.

If you're the kind of person that uses your web browser with multiple tabs open, then you may want to give Edge's vertical tabs feature a try as it could help boost your productivity as it will be easier to find a particular tab.
