When Reliance Jio invests in something you can very well understand that it is a hot property.

Krikey, an augmented reality mobile gaming company in which Reliance Jio has invested, has launched Yaatra, a new augmented reality game in India.

Jio has led the Series A funding round, taking the total funding raised by Krikey to $22 million.

The battle-style game employs device cameras, with users able to interact with friends and access digital training services.

"Krikey will inspire a generation of Indians to embrace Augmented Reality. Our vision is to bring the best experiences from across the world to India and the introduction of Yaatra is a step in that direction," said Akash Ambani, director, Jio.

"Augmented Reality gaming takes the user into a world of its own, and we invite every Jio and non-Jio user to experience AR through Yaatra," he added in his media statement.

How to play Yaatra game?

In simple terms, Yaatra is an action-adventure game.

Yaatra is the journey of Princess Maya, banished to the forest where she must find and defeat the monster king to reclaim her rightful place as queen. You play as Maya’s sibling, joining in her journey.

The company says that with just their mobile phone camera, players can step into the action-adventure story of Yaatra and join the quest to defeat a monster army.

Using weapons such as the bow and arrow, chakra, lightning and fire bolts, players can battle through different levels of combat and puzzle games.

Yaatra also has a number of in-game collectibles and items that you can use to level up your skills and improve compelling gameplay.

After players complete their gameplay, they can choose to share a personalized video with friends.

There are also video feeds to see gameplay videos posted by other users and a digital training ground where players can practice their bow and arrow skills before playing again.

Jhanvi and Ketaki Shriram, Krikey Founders says, "Our vision with Krikey is to bring together inspiration and reality in an immersive way. With augmented reality, we are able to bring fantasy worlds into your home, straight through the window of your mobile phone."

Jio users will get exclusive access to 3D avatar feature, gameplay tokens (to unlock additional weapons and powers) and game levels

Krikey is available on the IOS app store and Google play store.

Augmented and Virtual Reality (AR/VR) technology in recent times has helped not only the gamers but also the daily consumers to make use of the technology.

The Flipkart Group has acquired Scapic, an Augmented Reality company, to enhance its immersive shopping experience capabilities.

What is it? This is a Xiaomi-branded monitor and like anything Xiaomi, it tries to set itself apart by combining great looks and a surprisingly low price tag.

What makes it special? Call us vain but if we have to stare at a monitor the whole day, then we'd love to have something that's at least good looking. The Xiaomi Mi Display definitely falls in this category with millimetre-thick bezels.

How much does it cost? It's available at Banggood for $145.99 (about £110/AU$197) until the end of the year when you use code BGDec03c at checkout, a code that applies to the US Warehouse. That's an extra $34 off the current sale price of $180. Overall, you get a mind-blowing 62% discount on the suggested retail price of $390. Jaw-dropping.

Have you reviewed it? Not yet but here's a link to our best business monitor guides.

Xiaomi 23.8-inch slim monitor: $389.99 $145.99 at Banggood
Save $244 by using the exclusive code BGDec03c at checkout (offer expires on December 31, applies to US warehouse). This is a sleek and stylish monitor that looks good and looks good.View Deal

What else should we know? The XMMNT238CB (its real name) has a real IPS display, a 23.8-inch/605mm display measured diagonally and a pitch size of 0.275 × 0.275mm. On top of that, It consumes up to 24W of power, has a full HD resolution, a 178 degrees viewing angle, a brightness of 250 nits and has a typical contrast ratio of 1000:1.

Why buy it? There are quite a few monitors that are available at this price (and much less) but very few deliver the sort of clean, aesthetically eye pleasing package that the Xiaomi delivers. Just look at the stand.

Any cons? Your definition of cons may vary from mine. This monitor deliberately adopts a minimalist design (which helps keep the weight of the display at only 4.2Kg). There's no speakers, no VESA mount, no audio out, a single HDMI port and no support for pivoting. Want something cheap and cheerful (but not a patch on the Xiaomi monitor)? Then try the Spectre 24-inch E248W-1920 which costs $99.99 at Walmart.

If you thought 2019's The Rise of Skywalker tie-in would be the last time Fortnite and Star Wars would cross paths, think again – The Mandalorian has been added to Fortnite Chapter 2: Season 5 as part of its 'Zero Point' event, and he's bringing Baby Yoda (a.k.a *SPOILER* Grogu) along for the ride.

With the Zero Point having been unearthed, Agent Jones is recruiting "the greatest hunters across all realities" to help put a stop to it, which is where Mando and his adorable force-wielding sidekick come in.

This is the way

In addition to The Mandalorian, Epic Games has brought several new and exciting characters into the mix, along with new weapons and locations, including a sci-fi desert (that means it has pink sand) and a tropical jungle area.

The aforementioned new weapons include the Dragon's Breath Shotgun, The Mandalorian's Amban Sniper Rifle and a tracking weapon dubbed The Night Hawk.

The guest hunter appearances won't stop with The Mandalorian, either – developer Epic Games says "The hunters on the island are only the first to arrive from outside The Loop." going on to tease that "even more hunters from the realities beyond" will be recruited by Agent Jones throughout the season.

To play as The Mandalorian in Fortnite, simply head to the Epic Games website to purchase the latest Fortnite Battle Pass, which is valid until March 15, 2021.
