The V8 Supercars 2020 season has now moved to Bathurst. With a day's practice already under the belt, the heat haze is shimmering on the slopes of Mount Panorama.

The Bathurst 1000 is well and truly underway now, with the first Friday's practice session having kicked off at 9:45am AEDT this morning (October 16). The afternoon session is at 12:10pm AEDT, after which the drivers will begin the qualifying session at 4:05pm AEDT.

Bathurst 1000: where and when

The 2020 edition of the Bathurst 1000 is currently taking place on Mount Panorama, NSW. Every practice session, qualifying run, Top Ten Shootout and the race itself can be streamed live and ad-free via Fox Sports on Kayo Sports and the 24-hour Bathurst channel.

While the practice session for co-drivers begins at 9:10am on Saturday, October 17, the real action will be that evening at 5:05pm when the teams battle it out for the Top Ten Shootout.

It's still anyone's race and you can watch it all on free-to-air or on Fox Sports.

As part of its recent October 2020 Patch Tuesday updates, Microsoft has made a significant change to the way in which Windows verifies drivers that could lead to headaches for end users.

The reason behind the change is well-intentioned as the software giant wants to prevent malware from exploiting vulnerable hardware drivers to compromise Windows 10 systems.

Microsoft's new driver verification model will certainly help protect users but it could also lead to driver errors in Windows 10 if the company is unable to verify the software publisher of a driver.

Currently Windows 10 displays two driver error messages that users might seen when the verification process fails. The first error message reads “Windows can't verify the publisher of this driver software” while the second reads “No signature was present in the subject”. These error messages imply that Windows discovered an improperly formatted catalog file while trying to validate a driver and that the installation process will fail.

New driver system

According to a Microsoft support document, users “should contact the driver vendor or device manufacturer (OEM) and ask them for an updated driver to correct the issue” if Windows 10 is unable to verify a driver.

While this makes sense, Windows 10 users will likely be frustrated by the fact that they now have to reach out to a company with such an odd request as the result of a change Microsoft made to its own operating system.

Thankfully though, users are most likely to experience these issues when they apply old driver updates. However, installing an older driver can often be the only fix available when a company releases a new driver that doesn't work.

Hopefully Microsoft's new driver system will improve over time but if you do receive a driver error message before then, you'll have to reach out to a driver vendor or device manufacturer directly with the hope that they have an updated driver ready to fix the issue.

Apple has freshly announced its latest range of iPhone 12 handsets, and Google has just launched the Pixel 5 in Australia – so what better time for Telstra to come in swinging with an awesome plan discount?

From today, customers signing up for Telstra’s XL mobile plan can score a huge AU$50 monthly discount for the first year, totalling AU$600 of savings over those 12 months and bringing it down from the original AU$115 to just AU$65 per month.

Telstra XL plan | 180GB data | 5G network | AU$65pm

While Telstra's plans are generally more expensive than equivalent offerings from other telcos, this huge discount has made its premium offering much more palatable (Optus' closest equivalent offers 100GB for AU$59pm). Alongside this immense data, you'll get  5G network access, data-free sports and music streaming with Apple Music, and 3 months free of Binge's standard tier streaming.

Total minimum cost over 12 months is AU$1,380View Deal

If you’re already on a Telstra mobile plan, never fear, this offer is available to both new and existing Telstra customers who sign up before November 16. What’s more, the discount is valid for both BYO phone as well as handset-included plans.

With this deal, Telstra is likely hoping to draw in iPhone 12 pre-orders as well as showing off its 5G capabilities – a particularly timely decision considering this will be Apple’s first 5G-ready handset.

Perhaps best of all, once your 12 months with the plan are up, you’re free to switch to a different one, so you won’t get locked in to paying the full AU$115 after a year. If you need a lot of gigs, there’s very little to lose!

The NRL 2020 Grand Final is in sight, but first, four teams at the top of their game must battle it out in the preliminary finals.

First up, the Melbourne Storm will go head-to-head with the Canberra Raiders this Friday (October 16) night at 7:50pm AEDT.

The Raiders are coming off the back of a gritty victory over the Roosters last weekend, and while they managed to knock the reigning premiers out of finals contention, they’re sure to be fatigued from the effort.

The Storm could have the advantage after a week spent recuperating, so Canberra will have to dig deep if they want another shot at the Grand Final.

On Saturday (October 17) night, the Panthers will clash with the Rabbitohs at ANZ Stadium. Penrith have had a near-perfect run this season, only losing one game this year back in round 8.

To keep their dreams alive, they’ll need to get past a stellar South Sydney team, who’ve put a total of 144 points on the board in their past three games. It looks set to be a high-scoring match, and you can catch the action at 7:50pm on October 17.

We’re just one round away from the Grand Final, with every team in their best form – we can’t wait to see what week three brings us.

All this action can be watched live on free-to-air, pay TV and streaming service platforms, starting with the Storm vs Raiders game tonight (October 16) at 7:50pm AEDT from Suncorp Stadium.

How to watch the NRL 2020 finals online

The best place to watch every match from the finals live online would be on Kayo Sports. This streaming service is dedicated to sports and designed to be a die-hard sports fan's best friend.

It's feature-packed with things like SplitView, which lets you watch up to four different streams on the same window, and interactive live stats that are available for all NRL games.

If you happen to miss a game but don't have time to watch a full replay, Kayo Minis will get you up to date with all the highlights in bite-sized clips.

Better yet, the basic Kayo Sports package allows you to stream your favourite sports across two devices simultaneously, or you can opt for the premium package and stream across three different devices at once.

That not enough? Kayo gives you a 14-day free trial to figure out if you'll be happy with the service or not. For a more in-depth look at what the sports streaming service has to offer, check out our Kayo Sports review.

Kayo Sports basic package | 14-day free trial, then AU$25 per month

Kayo’s Basic package will let you live stream and catch up on over 50 sports on two devices at the same time. You’ll have access to Kayo’s features such as SplitView, and you can cancel any time as there’s no lock-in contract.View Deal

How to live stream the NRL 2020 finals for free

The Nine Network has broadcast rights to all the games during the finals, meaning you will be able to watch all the games live and free on Channel Nine.

That also means you can watch the matches on 9Now, the Nine Network's online platform, where the games will be streamed live.

How to live stream the NRL 2020 finals from abroad

League fans currently living outside of Australia, New Zealand or the Pacific Islands can also catch every scrum and try online via the Watch NRL streaming service.

Like Kayo, Watch NRL is a subscription service and has three different plans to choose from:

Weekly: US$17 / £13 / €17 / AU$20
Monthly: US$33 / £25 / €33 / AU$39
Annual: US$165 / £130 / €155 / AU$199

For the finals, Watch NRL has a new option called the Finals Pass, which temporarily replaces the monthly plan. It gives customers the ability to watch all the matches during finals week as well as the grand finals live.

Watch NRL Finals Pass | US$33 / £25 / €33 / AU$39

The contents of this streaming service are only available to view outside of Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands, but a subscription can be purchased from anywhere. It includes every match in the Premiership. Watch NRL allows you to pause and rewind live matches, and also allows you to download matches for offline viewing. While you can watch the livestream on desktop via the website, the Watch NRL app is also available for iOS, Android and Apple TV. You can even cast onto a TV via AirPlay or Google Chromecast.View Deal

If you're currently abroad and aren't too keen on getting yourself a Watch NRL Finals Pass, you will need a VPN, and we've rounded up the best VPN services for you to choose from.
