As VPNs have become increasingly popular among consumers and business users, competing in the VPN market has become incredibly challenging especially when a handful of companies control the entire industry.
To help make it easier for businesses to compete in the highly competitive market, the decentralized Virtual Private Network (dVPN) solutions provider Exidio creates open source applications built on a peer-to-peer bandwidth network and Sentinel dVPN protocol, which it is a core contributor to.
The company's custom, white label applications connect to the Sentinel node network and it is even able to prove a users' web traffic and metadata are end-to-end encrypted to ensure both privacy and security. Exidio itself cannon access the traffic nor is a node host able to view a user's web traffic or metadata.
The Sentinel Ecosystem consists of the Sentinel node network, the dVPN user base, communities of open source code contributors and companies integrating the Sentinel node network into their software and services. Since its inception in 2018, the network has grown from 17 active nodes to 270 in September of this year.
Entrepreneurs and businesses that want to provide secure, private networking access to their employees and customers now have a turnkey solution to do so with Exidio. By leveraging the company's open source code, organizations can now bring dVPN to their customers and employees without the challenges of node management.
At the same time, Exidio can natively integrate dVPN into existing applications through its APIs. This means that businesses can focus on providing products and services for their customers while Exidio will provide the architecture and integration of secure, decentralized virtual private networking.
Exidio's CEO Dan Edlebeck provided further insight on the continued growth of the Sentinel Ecosystem in a press release, saying:
"As the adoption across Sentinel Ecosystem continues to grow, we are being approached by more and more companies who are looking to integrate solutions leveraging the Sentinel node network. I'm thrilled about the future as we change the landscape for secure, open source networking."

Disney and McDonald's are offering a new collection of Marvel movie character toys of Falcon, The Winter Soldier, Scarlet Witch, Vision, Groot, Hulkbuster, Wasp, Hulk and Black Widow.
Another Apple Event will be held on October 13, the tech giant officially announced, and we can only assume that the iPhone 12 series will be unveiled then. But this is Apple, and there’s sure to be a few ‘one more thing’ announcements we’ll be dazzled with. Here’s everything we’re expecting to debut at the Apple Event.
There’s a few things we can easily cross off this list...because we already saw some devices at September’s Apple Event. Don’t expect a new tablet after seeing the new iPad Air 4, nor should you anticipate a wearable after the Apple Watch 6 and affordable Apple Watch SE debuted.
But there’s still a few rumored Apple items we could see during the event. Aside from the iPhone 12 series, we’ve been hearing a lot about the Apple Studio, its over-hear headphones. We could also see the AirTags tracker, which have cropped up in iOS software over the last couple years. Finally, surprise rumors of a far smaller AirPower wireless charger have us wondering if that accessory is finally ready to be revealed to the masses.
Here’s everything in detail, starting with the big iPhone 12 announcements:
iPhone 12 base models
We’re expecting not just one but two successors to the standard iPhone 11 as the ‘affordable flagship’ models of the new line, but they look to offer size rather than specs differences. The smaller phone, rumored to be called the iPhone 12 Mini, will have a 5.4-inch display, while the larger version, likely called simply the iPhone 12, will have a 6.1-inch screen. And unlike the iPhone 11’s LCD display, this year’s standard screens will be OLED.
The only difference between the two standard versions, rumors suggest, could be battery size – a bigger phone means more room to expand capacity – but the much smaller iPhone 12 Mini could appeal to small phone aficionados. It’s unclear how its size will compare with the smallest current iPhone, the new iPhone SE 2020, but it will definitely be the version in the iPhone 12 series for consumers who don’t need huge phones.

iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max
The two higher-tier iPhone 12 models following up on the iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max are, unsurprisingly, rumored to be called the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max. The differences in 2020? This year’s models are supposedly getting bigger: the iPhone 12 Pro may get a 6.1-inch display (up from the 5.8-inch screen on its predecessor) and the iPhone 12 Pro Max could get a 6.7-inch display (from the 6.5-inch screen).
While all iPhone 12 models should get the same rumored A14 Bionic chipset, other predictions set the two Pro models apart with more RAM (4GB for standard, 6GB for higher-end), 120Hz refresh rate displays, as well as three rear cameras and a LiDar depth scanner. The iPhone 12 base models may only get two rear cameras. Lastly, it’s unclear if 5G is coming to all models or only some, but if it’s the latter, you can bet the Pro models will be the only ones supporting the faster next-gen networks.

AirPods Studio
Apple's online stores removed speakers and headphones from third-party sellers, which hinted that it was paving the way for its own higher-end Apple AirPods Studio to drop.
We've heard a bit about the over-ear headphones' design, with mock-ups showing a metal frame and heavy pads around the ear cups and padding on the headband. We've also noted some details about potential features they'll be metal with magnetic ear cups, but no headphone jack – they'll be mainly wireless, with a USB-C port.

Release dates: iPad Air, Apple One, and more
While the September Apple Event saw plenty of new devices, Apple didn’t reveal when they’d be coming out. The iPad Air 4 release date is still a mystery, and we aren’t sure when Apple One, the all-services-for-one-price subscription roundup will go live.
The iPad Air 4 redefined the tablet to be an iPad Pro Lite, with some of the same design innovations (flat sides, USB-C port) and improved specs as its pricier sibling. Apple One, on the other hand, bundles all of Apple’s subscription services – including the newly-announced Apple Fitness Plus – into a single easy fee, which starts at $14.95 / £14.95 / AU$19.95 for single users.
Apple's AirTags are supposedly Tile-like accessories(Image credit: Future)
Apple AirTags
We’ve been expecting the Apple AirTags for some time, and since they weren’t revealed at September Apple Event, its follow-up in October is the next chance we’ll see Apple’s take on Tile-like tracker accessories. It might have been the plan all along, as a leak suggested a dedicated AirTags app would be part of iOS 14, which users have already had the chance to download.
We’ve heard some rumors of how the devices will work – much like Tile, you’ll allegedly be able to track an AirTag (and ergo, whatever it’s clipped to, like keys or a bag) through an iOS app.
But rumors point to other tracking capabilities, like AR capabilities that let users point their cameras around to find digital balloons, which represent misplaced AirTags that are in range of your iPhone. But what if it’s out of range? The rumored ‘Lost Mode’ uses other iPhones as a mesh network to ping the lost AirTag.

AirPower
Ah yes, AirPower – the long-awaited Apple wireless charging mat that was officially cancelled in March 2019, yet fans remained hopeful. A prototype of the device supposedly appeared in a video back in August, reigniting the rumor mill that it was on the way.
Of course, that could’ve just been an old prototype, and Apple’s claims that it couldn’t quite get the charge coils working up to its standards could still be true. In any case, we’re keeping a sharp eye out for any hints that an official wireless charging pad will be unveiled on Tuesday, October 13.
Any other Apple surprises?
These are the things we’re anticipating most to debut at the October Apple Event, but there could always be something else – a true ‘one more thing’ that takes us all by surprise. Perhaps we’ll see an iPad Mini (last updated in March 2019), or even the first Apple silicon debut in a 12-inch MacBook rumored for 2020. There’s a lot we could see at the next Apple Event, but we won’t know for sure until October 13.

Like many companies that had invested in Jio Platforms recently, it is double whammy for Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA), too. ADIA had put in Rs 5,512.50 crore (around $750 million) in Jio Platforms, and it has come back again to invest the same amount in Reliance Retail, the eponymous retail arm of Reliance Industries.
ADIA’s investment will translate into a 1.20% equity stake in Reliance Retail on a fully diluted basis.
Reliance Retail operates India's largest and fastest growing retail business serving close to 640 million footfalls across its 12,000 stores nationwide.
Reliance Retail, through its New Commerce strategy, has started the digitalization of small and unorganised merchants and is committed to expanding the network to over 20 million of these merchants. This will enable the merchants to use technology tools and an efficient supply chain infrastructure to deliver an increased value proposition to their own customers.
Mukesh Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries, said, “The investment by ADIA is a further endorsement of Reliance Retail’s performance and potential and the inclusive and transformational New Commerce business model that it is rolling out.”
Hamad Shahwan Aldhaheri, Executive Director of the Private Equities Department at ADIA, said, “Reliance Retail has rapidly established itself as one of the leading retail businesses in India and, by leveraging both its physical and digital supply chains, is strongly positioned for further growth. This investment is consistent with our strategy of investing in market leading businesses in Asia linked to the region’s consumption-driven growth and rapid technological advancement.”
$5.14 billion in less than four weeks for Reliance Retail
ADIA is the seventh investor to secure a stake in Reliance Retail.
With this investment, Reliance Retail has raised Rs 37,710 crore (around $5.14 billion) from leading global investors including two tranches from Silver Lake (1 and 2), KKR, General Atlantic, Mubadala, GIC, TPG and ADIA in less than four weeks. It has sold about 8.5% stake so far. The market rumour is Reliance Retail will offload only around 10% to 15% stake in the company.
Reliance Retail's sister company Jio Platforms has raised around $20 billion from 13 big-ticket investors, including Facebook and Google.
It may be recalled that addressing shareholders at Reliance Industries 43rd annual general meeting recently, Mukesh Ambani had said "Reliance Retail has received strong interest from strategic and financial investors."
Ambani explained his plans to add newer categories like electronics, fashion, pharmaceutical and healthcare into its omni-channel venture, JioMart.
Jio Mart is positioned to take on Walmart-backed Flipkart and the other behemoth in the business Amazon.
India on Tuesday said it was approving incentives under a federal plan to boost domestic smartphone production to 16 companies, including top Apple suppliers Foxconn, Wistron and Pegatron.
Fengmi 4K Cinema Laser Projector -$1,699.99 from Banggood
(£1,344.78) This 4K laser projector from Fengmi is the cheapest on the market right now. From just 50cm from a wall, this ultra short throw model can produce a 150-inch picture (by diagonal).
4K projectors used to be a big, hot and very expensive affair, but in recent years, a new generation has overcome these various difficulties.
Enter the recently released Fengmi laser projector - a true 4K ultra short throw model that can project images on a 150-inch virtual screen that rivals even the likes of the VAVA 4K projector.
It's great for business boardrooms of any size and actually costs far less than you'd think at $1,699.99/£1,344.78 from Banggood.
The Fengmi has a rated brightness of 2,000 Ansi Lumens and a contrast ratio of 3000:1. It's also an ultra short throw (UST) projector, meaning it only needs to be 50cm from a surface to yield a 150-inch picture.
Note that it doesn't come with a smart component, which is a positive in our book. Surprisingly enough, some of its competitors run on Android 6.0, an antiquated OS that could prove problematic.
Other noteworthy features include a pair of built-in speakers, DTS-HD and Dolby Audio compatibility, MI user interface, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, a 25,000 hour lamp life, plenty of ports (three HDMI, one USB 3.0, two audio, one optical and an Ethernet) and most importantly, a true 4K resolution.
It doesn’t offer HDR-10, though, and there's no voice control, 3D support nor Bluetooth.
If this product ships from mainland China, it will take a month to reach either the UK or US (and potentially more). You may be levied an additional tax, either directly or through the courier.
If you've managed to get hold of a cheaper product with equivalent specifications, in stock and brand new, let us know and we'll tip our hat to you.
