Truecaller, one of the most popular caller ID apps on the Play Store and the App store has got a new feature which will let you see stats on spam and decide how risky the number is with the ‘Spam Activity Indicator’.

The new feature is currently available only for Android users. The Spam Activity Indicator gives you detailed statistics on the spammers on your phone. It will also let you know how many calls has that particular caller made in the previous 60 days. The stats will also be available on Truecaller’s official website.

With this update, Truecaller aims to bridge the gap and give more power to the users. With this tiny dashboard, you will be able to protect yourselves from scam and fraud in a more efficient way.

With smartphones being part of your everyday activity, it can be often annoying and frustrating with multiple spam/fraud calls every day. This feature will try and make your day better.

The spam activity indicator gives you the context of spammers and helps you make better decisions related to further interactions with spam numbers. Statistics are available to view when you tap on the spammer’s profile image in the app. In the coming days, a new update will bring the stats right in the Caller ID on the full screen itself.

Currently, there are three important trends: spam reports, call activity and peak calling hours. The spam reports show you how many times a Truecaller user has marked a specific number as spam, the call activity shows you the number of calls the number has made recently, potentially indicating how much of a spammer the number is. And lastly, the peak calling hours will give you a time chart that identifies when the spammer is most active.

Truecaller is currently having over 240 million global active users across platforms. And, recently the company also revamped the app with smart features.

The Samsung Galaxy M51 is one of the most anticipated mid-range smartphones from the company that is expected to launch in India soon. The device has been in the news for over two months now and we finally have some specs of the upcoming Galaxy M51 device.

The Galaxy M51 will be most likely to be announced in the coming weeks in India. And, India will be one of the first countries in the world to get the new Galaxy device. According to a report from MySmartPrice, the Galaxy M51 will feature a massive battery, Snapdragon SoC, a quad-camera setup, and much more. Here’s everything you need to know about the Samsung Galaxy M51.

For starters, the Samsung Galaxy M51 reportedly has a mammoth 7,000mAh battery which breaks the 6,000mAh barrier that was pretty much standard in multiple M series devices like Galaxy M30 and M31 series. With this massive battery, Samsung is also bundling a 25W fast charger.

For optics, the device will feature a quad-camera stack with a 64MP primary Samsung ISOCELL sensor. Apart from this, we can expect Samsung to pack in an ultra-wide-angle camera, a depth and a macro shooter. It is said to pack in a 6.67-inch full HD+ display.

Under the hood, the Galaxy M51 is expected to come with an octa-core Snapdragon 730 chipset with up to 8GB of RAM. On the software front, the device will run on Samsung One UI based on Android 10 and since Samsung has committed for three years of Android update, the device might get Android 13 update in a few years from now.

Earlier reports suggested that the device will come with up to 128GB storage along with a base 64GB storage option. Since the previous Galaxy M series sported an AMOLED panel, we can also expect the Galaxy M51 to feature the same along with In-display fingerprint scanner.

The device was first expected to launch in June and then, it was delayed due to the production issue and challenges. Watch this space for more details about the actual launch date.

The Department of Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), which comes under the Indian Commerce and Industry Ministry, is set to talk with e-commerce platforms like Amazon India and Flipkart to help promote geographical indication (GI) products and give impetus to locally produced items.

Government officials are to confab with the executives of these e-commerce platforms to discuss a pilot project that would identify GI products that have good demand in the market. The pilot project hopes to throw extra spotlight on the GI-Tagged goods.

GI tag is used on products that correspond to a specific geographical location or origin, including a certain town or region in India. These include Darjeeling tea, Coorg Arabica coffee and Kashmiri saffron. India has registered 361 GI products, as of March 2020.

GI sign is used on products that has specific geographical origin and possess qualities or a reputation that are due to that origin.

Government wants to help these manufacturers and sellers to leverage from online commerce independently to boost sales.

Betting big on Make in India

“The meeting will be on figuring out a standardized practice of listing these products on e-commerce platforms, and digital literacy, which is needed to be provided to manufacturers, sellers and cooperative societies manufacturing and selling these geographical indication products," according to a report in the newspaper Mint.

The government, it is learnt, will tell the online retailers to add respective logos on online listings of these products for greater visibility.

But the problem is most of these GI-tagged products are manufactured by local manufacturers who are unable to maintain the logistical demands of e-commerce companies. The e-commerce companies want the supply chain to be straightened out before committing themselves to any proposal.

Understandably, the whole effort is aimed at giving a fillip to the much-bandied Make in India campaign that is the clarion call in the country at the moment.

The government is betting big ‘Aatma Nirbhar Bharat’ or 'Self-Reliant India’ vision. In line with this idea, the government has rolled out its Consumer Protection (E-commerce) Rules, 2020, and instructed all e-tailers to provide the ‘country of origin’ information for all products listed on their website. The ‘country of origin’ detail, quite evidently, will help consumers make more informed choices. The Government e-Marketplace (GeM) has also made the ‘country of origin’ clause mandatory.

After launching NordLocker last year, NordSec has now decided to add a cloud storage feature to its file encryption tool with the aim of changing how the industry treats data privacy.

While other cloud storage solutions encrypt only the storage, the company's encryption tool also encrypts the files its users store with a simple drag and drop.

Encryption specialist at NordLocker Oliver Noble provided more details on the file encryption tool's new cloud storage add-on, saying:

“NordLocker took a challenge to revise and turn round existing cloud storage practices. Encrypting files first and uploading them to the cloud of the same provider helps to avoid the involvement of third-party vendors. All that can be done with a single move of drag and drop.”

Secure cloud

By adding a cloud storage feature to NordLocker, NordSec is enhancing user privacy on both the device and in the cloud as both share the same encryption standards. Additionally, the files are synchronized across all of a user's devices but no one except for their owner can access the data.

Normally when a cloud provider encrypts user data, they hold the key that allows them to access that data and can do so without a user's knowledge. NordLocker differs from traditional cloud storage providers due to the fact that only a user's decryption key can open their files.

Surprisingly it took NordSec just 90 days to develop and implement NordLocker's new cloud storage add-on.

As NordSec has added secure cloud storage to its file encryption tool, the company has made some changes to its plans with the good news being that encryption is now unlimited for all users. NordLocker users also get 3 GB of secure cloud storage for free. The company's premium plan at $7.99 per month gives users 500 GB of storage and signing up for an annual plan lowers the price by half to just $3.99 per month.

Epson EcoTank ET-2760 printer - $299.99 at OfficeDepot
(roughly £230)
If swapping out cartridges is the last thing on earth you want to do, this Epson EcoTank might just be the printer for you. This cartridge-free all-in-one is also seriously economical in the long term, with an extremely low print cost per color page.View Deal

The EcoTank ET-2760 (C11CG22203) is neither the cheapest nor the most capable of Epson’s popular all-in-one, cartridge-free printer range. It is, however, the model that delivers the most value, available at just under $300.

Its main feature is the fact you don’t need cartridges; instead, you can simply refill the four built-in ink reservoirs (cyan, magenta, blue and black) with the bundled ink set. There’s enough, Epson says, to fill up to 80 individual cartridges (worth around $600) or print 7,500 black/6,000 color pages.

That means much less waste, a lower carbon footprint and less time swapping cartridges around. Add in an extremely low cost per color page (as little as 1c per color ISO sheet) and Epson has a winner on its hands.

The rest of the specification is equally enticing: voice activated printing, duplex double-sided printing, a color display for easy setup and navigation, two year limited warranty and a memory card slot.

As for the caveats, there’s no ADF (automatic document feeder) and the paper tray is not as voluminous as some of its competitors. The EcoTank ET-2760 is also not as fast as it could be, lacks wired Ethernet connectivity and there’s no front USB port to plug in a storage device.

This Epson device is ideally suited for those that prioritize simplicity above all else, because it won't need filling up any time soon.

Bear in mind

  • If this printer is unavailable in your region, you may need to use a specialist parcel forwarding service to take advantage of the deal.
  • If you've found a cheaper product with equivalent specifications, in stock and brand new, let us know and we'll tip our hat to you.
