UPDATE: As of today, Samsung's 2020 8K television range is available to purchase in Australia. You can find pricing and availability details in the updated article below.

As we prepare to remain indoors for the foreseeable future, the importance of the television's role in a home has obviously risen dramatically. Luckily, Samsung's Australian 2020 4K and 8K TV line-up has arrived just in time to help keep us entertained in this new and unprecedented era.

Without a doubt, the headliner of Samsung's 2020 TV range is the Q950T, a stunningly gorgeous 8K QLED television with an 'Infinity Display' that boasts a staggering 99% screen-to-body ratio, meaning almost no bezel to speak of.

Each TV in Samsung's 8K range also sports a more advanced version of the AI upscaling technology that featured in the company's 2019 models, thanks to the inclusion of a new quantum processor, which is said to offer "pixel-by-pixel image enhancement".

Additionally, that same quantum processor also provides the 8K TV range with access to Samsung's Object Tracking Sound+ technology – a new sound optimising feature which is said to analyse on-screen action and translate it into immersive three-dimensional audio using the multiple speakers built into the TVs themselves.

Furthering this year's sound advancements, each of Samsung's 8K QLED TVs sports Q-Symphony technology, which the manufacturer says will enable "seamless cooperation between this innovative new TV sound technology and Samsung’s Q Series soundbars to deliver an extra layer of richness and audio detail."

Samsung 4K QLED Q95T

Of course, not everyone is going to want to splurge on a top-of-the-line 8K television, which is why Samsung has also updated its 4K QLED range, bringing its new quantum processor to all but its lowest end model, the Q60T.

As for non-QLED offerings, Samsung also revealed a new range of entry-level Crystal UHD TVs – these tellies lack the exceptional colour and brightness benefits brought on by quantum dot technology on higher-end models, but make up for it with much lower price points.

If style and decor is of more importance to you than processing power, you'll be happy to know that Samsung's design-focused televisions, namely The Frame and The Serif, have also received an update, now featuring the same Smart Hub technology that's available on the rest of its QLED range.

Lastly, Samsung Australia also revealed a new addition to its Lifestyle TV range in Australia with The Sero, a truly original offering which can rotate between horizontal and vertical formats, presumably so that dumb teens can watch their Snapchats and TikToks on a much larger screen.

Samsung's 2020 TV range began its nationwide rollout into stores last month, with the exception of its 8K QLED TVs, which are available to purchase in Australia from today at leading retailers across the country. You can check out updated pricing and sizing details for each model below.

It seems that leakers just can’t get enough of this whole Renoir desktop APU business. This time a whole lineup of AMD Ryzen 4000 APUs have been spotted.

Igor Wallosek of Igor's Lab has just published AMD’s “Renoir” APU portfolio, listing quite a few Ryzen APUs. More importantly, the list, which he obtained from an unnamed source, also contains quite a lot of very specific information regarding technical specifications.

Obviously, we need to take this with a pinch of salt. However, if these listings are in fact real, then AMD is ramping up its APU line with an 8-core, 16-thread APU flagship.

AMD Renoir APU

Ramping up the APU flagship

Unfortunately, the portfolio only displays the products’ OPN numbers, so we can’t confirm whether or not the recently leaked Ryzen 7 4700G is indeed real. There is one APU on this list with 8 cores, a CPU base clock of 3GHz, and iGPU clocked at 1750MHz.

While this somewhat supports an earlier leak spotted by @_rogame, that at least one APU with those specifications exists and is currently being tested, this particular APU in the listing seems to be for mobile, not desktop.

You can, however, see from the listing below that there are four desktop APUs with 8 cores and 16 threads supporting the rumor that AMD is doubling up on its flagship, the Ryzen 5 3400G, in terms of cores.

These APUs also have 8 CUs, 512 Stream Processors (SPs) and impressively high CPU base frequencies at only 65W and 35W TDPs, which means that they’re going to offer decent performance boosts while being power efficient as well.

Wallosek says that not all of these will make the final line-up, and AMD could still tweak the specs so they might be slightly different on the production models. Still, this gives us a pretty good peek at what’s in store for Team Red. We're sure AMD will lift the veil from these processors when its ready to show off the rest of the Ryzen 4000 desktop lineup.

Realme has announced its biggest launch event yet in China, as things get back to normal in the country. The company will be launching a total of eight new products on May 25, a Weibo post from the official brand handle revealed.

Due to stringent lockdown conditions in the past few weeks, the country was almost at a standstill. This led to a delay in launch schedules for entire industries. And hence, we think Realme wants to make up for it. The promotional poster already contains a few hints about the upcoming products but there could be a few completely not teased at all.

For one, the Realme X3 and Realme X3 SuperZoom look very likely to be launched at the event. In fact, the two handsets are also likely to debut in India in the near future. As far as leaked information is concerned, the Realme X3 SuperZoom is a very interesting device. A Geekbench log detected the smartphone rocking a  Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ SoC along with 12GB of RAM and Android 10. This makes the handset a premium one.

The handset has been teased by Realme India CEO Madhav Sheth as well in a tweet via a picture of the Milky Way galaxy taken by the device at 60x zoom. The Realme X3 could be a just a toned-down version with no zoom capabilities. The Realme TV is also expected to launch soon, however, with Realme usually launching major products in India first, it’s possible we could see the new category first in India. Nothing can be ruled out at the moment though due to uncertain COVID-19 situations.

New power banks and wireless earbuds could be the other products, as can be seen in the poster above. However, this just makes up three. We expect the company to drop some hints about what’s coming in the next few days.

The Apple Watch 6 is expected to get more health-tracking features than the current iterations, but a new patent unveiled today suggests it could pack yet another capability: reading blood pressure.

While Apple Watches have been able to track heart rate for years, atypical blood pressure could represent persistent health conditions, like hypertension, which could either be a sign of more dangerous problems or expose wearers to more risk. Hypertension, for example, could increase a person’s risk of contracting COVID-19, per CNN.

While reading blood pressure typically requires an accessory like a compression cuff, the Apple-filed patent no. 10,646,121 describes how non-invasive blood pressure reading could be possible: by using applanation tonometry, a method optometrists use to measure pressure in the eye.

The patent details what this might look like, including a series of electrodes on a wearable device (presumably, an Apple Watch), and/or capacitive nodes along the watch band. While most of the possible configurations use capacitive pressure sensors, the patent notes that they could apply to other kinds – like piezoresistive pressure sensors that change form when pressure is applied – suggesting plenty of possibilities in measuring pressure and the ultimate method used.

In other words, Apple left a lot of room to decide which of these to implement, if any. Which makes sense: the patent was first filed in September 2016. While patents don’t necessarily mean features will certainly make it into devices, its publication on May 12, 2020 suggests that it could come in the Apple Watch 6.

A full health-tracking complement

The Apple Watch 6 is already poised to get several upgrades to its health tracking. The biggest is tracking blood oxygen levels, which could help wearers detect whether they’re suffering from sleep apnea.

But combine blood oxygen tracking with heart rate monitoring and the Apple Watch 6 may be able to detect whether wearers are hyperventilating and, as analyst Jon Prosser predicted, instruct wearers to stop and calm down. Adding blood pressure reading to the mix could allow the smartwatch to track even more conditions and improve its ability to watch out for a user’s health.
