Vivo would be launching the Vivo V19 in India on May 12, even as the government looks to ease the nation-wide lockdown to control the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic and relaxes the norms for delivery of non-essential items to the doorstep.

This decision puts Vivo on a collision course with the Poco F2 Pro that will also see the light of the day in India on May 12. The Vivo V19 handset has already been launched globally in early April. Hence, there will be no live streaming of the event. Just a formal release with prices for the Indian market.

Key highlights of the handset include a hole-punch display with dual selfie cameras, a Snapdragon 712 chipset and 33W fast charging.

Since the handset is already official, we know almost everything about the it, except, of course, the India prices. The latest in the V-series of phones boasts a  6.44-inch FHD+ Dual iView E3 Super AMOLED display with a 20:9 aspect ratio. The rear has a rectangular cutout for the quad-camera module placed on the top left corner. It’s a polycarbonate build though, instead of metal.

On the inside, the Vivo V19 houses a Snapdragon 712 SoC which is a good step-up from the Snapdragon 675 on its predecessor. The handset will pack 8GB of RAM at the very least, if the global model is any indication.

In terms of cameras, the Vivo V19 could disappoint Indian consumers as it comes with the same camera setup as the Vivo V17 - a 48MP shooter accompanied by an 8MP and a couple of 2MP sensors. The battery size also remains the same as the previous generation, powered by a 4500mAh box with the only silver lining being the added support for 33W fast charging.

Word around tech circles is that the Vivo V19 may be priced around Rs 24,000  (~$331) factoring in the recent GST price hike. We do know that there will be two colour options - Sleek Silver and Gleam Black.

Reliance Jio’s has launched a new annual work-from-home plan for Rs 2,399 with 2 GB daily data for professionals working from home and their families who use the internet for e-learning and entertainment. The existing Rs, 2121 work-from-home annual plan offered 1.5GB data per day.

Apart from this new annual plan, Jio has also come out with three new add-on plans specifically for those who work-from-home and perform data intensive tasks regularly. You can choose from add-on plans for Rs 151, Rs 201, and Rs 251.

The latest annual plan for Rs 2,399 offers 2GB high-speed data and validity for 365 days, which means that a user gets 730GB over a one-year timeframe. As with any data plan, upon depletion of allotted data, the speed is downgraded to 64 Kbps.

The plan offers free and unlimited Jio to Jio calling. It also offers Jio to non-Jio calling with a FUP limit of 12,000 minutes.

The plan offers free text messaging with a limit of 100 SMS as well as complimentary subscription to Jio apps.

Compared to the latest annual plan, the  previous annual plan for Rs 2,121 came with a daily high-speed data of 1.5GB and a validity of 336 days was inferior as it accounted for only 504GB of data during the time frame. However, both these annual plans offer the same voice, SMS and added benefits.

Work-from-home add-on plans

The validity of these plans depend on that of an existing plan. Here is a quick look:

  • Rs 151 add-on plan: this add-on plan offers 30GB data with no daily data limit
  • Rs 201 add-on plan: This work-from-home add-on plan offers 40GB data with no limit on the daily data
  • Rs 251 add-on plan: This work-from-home add-on plan offers 50GB data with no limit on the daily data.

Other than these work-from-home plans, Reliance is also offering 4G data vouchers which can be added to the existing plan’s validity. These plans also come with calling benefits apart from data.

There are a few more 4G data vouchers that double up as calling plans and can be used with an existing plan’s validity. They are priced at Rs 11, Rs 21, Rs 51, and Rs 101 and provide unlimited 800 MB data, 2GB, 6GB, and 12GB additional data respectively.

Reliance Jio has been doling out extra data as a freebie keeping in mind the current lockdown scenario, since the last week of March thereby keeping its existing customer base happy and loyal.

cheap xbox one s deals

With the unveiling of the Xbox One X, the Xbox One S has seen some impressive price drops and bundle deals with Microsoft going all out to pump up the pressure on its rivals. It was already often the cheapest console of the current generation, but with some of these savings on bundles and even Xbox One controllers, the price seems right.

At this point it's probably wiser to buy a bundle and score some wicked Xbox One games along with the unit, as some of them can come in cheaper than the standalone consoles themselves.

At once more elegant and more powerful, the slimmed-down design of the Xbox One S ditches the external power brick and chunky looks of the original Xbox One. More importantly, it comes kitted out with 4K visual support meaning you'll be able to watch specialised Blu-Ray and Netflix content in 4K.

Xbox One X prices are constantly changing from store to store, making it hard to keep up at times. To take the pain out of scoping out the best Xbox One X prices this Black Friday 2019, you should be able to find the best real-time deals listed below, updated live, along with some hand-picked options.

Close on the heels of launching Messenger Rooms as a real-time video conferencing alternative to the likes of Zoom, Microsoft Teams and Google Meet, there are now reports that Facebook could soon be integrating it into the Whatsapp desktop version.

A report on WABetaInfo suggests that Whatsapp has already started testing Messenger Rooms on the desktop version and the feature has already been made available to some users. The feature would be available on the Whatsapp web version 2.2019.6 which is slated to launch soon.

Facebook had announced the launch of Messenger Rooms on April 24 as a challenger to video calling platforms such as Zoom, Google Meet, Skype, Microsoft Teams etc. With its integration with Whatsapp, the Messenger Rooms could well become the easiest way to communicate via video conferencing on the web.

While Zoom has faced considerable flak over security and privacy concerns, others like Google Meet required users to have an email account on Gmail while Duo, which till recently required a phone number to log in, has now done away with this requirement in order to get ahead in the race that began since the Covid-19 related lockdown engulfed the world.

Facebook_rooms

At the time of launching Messenger Rooms, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg had indicated that it would be supported across Whatsapp, Instagram and also Portal, which is another video chat offering from the company. The current round of testing the integration of Whatsapp with Rooms is evidence enough that Facebook hopes to soon offer a seamless experience to users across its entire family of apps.

The Whatsapp for desktop version would get a shortcut to Messenger Rooms and users would be automatically taken to the Rooms window for starting a video call with friends. They could either start a video call or a Rooms call from either of the two apps. Once a user clicks on the shortcut, it would ask whether they wish to create a room from Whatsapp or head over to Messenger room directly.

Of course, the actual roll out of this feature will take considerable time given the fact that Messenger Rooms itself isn't available yet to all users across the world. And this includes users in India.
