2020 has only just begun and it's already shaping up to be a big year for photographers of all kinds. Not only do we know that there's a couple of specialist sports DSLRs coming our way this year, we've also got wind that Nikon might announce another full-frame DSLR on January 7.

That's not the only camera announcement you can expect on that day. 360-degree camera maker Insta360 has teased the launch of its next shooter for January 7, on the first day of CES 2020, via a short 30-second video posted to the company's YouTube channel

The teaser doesn't give away much in terms of a design except to say that the shooter will combine the features of a drone, an action camera and a 360-degree snapper into one nifty device.

To get an indication of what the upcoming camera might look like, we'll need to turn to a leaked image that was accidentally revealed on a Japanese retail website, which has since been taken down, and then tweeted by trusty camera leaker Nokishita.

Based on that one image, the camera known as the One R is a world apart from the current Insta360 One X, which looked rather like a TV remote. Instead, it appears that the One R is made up of two camera modules that can be attached to each other side by side, while the third attachment (the red one) seems to be a battery grip that fits under them both.

This design description is pure speculation on our part based on the one image we have, with no other information on the device's specs revealed. We're as yet unsure how the individual modules will work on their own or how they'll function in tandem.

We're excited to see what the Insta360 One R can do and can't wait till next week to find out. We'll be sure to bring you the news as soon as it's official.

Huawei’s troubled times finally saw some relief when it was cleared to participate in India’s upcoming 5G trials and help build the infrastructure.

2019 was a rough year for Huawei, where it was put on an entity list, disallowing it to have any trade relations with American companies, owing to an ongoing trade war. The authorities state that Huawei products could be used to spy on other nations, and the data could be shared with the Chinese government. While the smartphone maker has repeatedly denied all ties, the US government went on to urge its allies to shun Huawei as well.

Amongst many other blows, arguably, the most significant loss was the inability to ship future smartphones with Google services. This, however, did not stop Huawei from exhibiting an 18% increase in revenues and shipping over 240 million smartphones.

There could be further good news in store for Huawei, as it has been approved to participate in India’s upcoming 5G trials, which are expected to begin in January 2020. India is the world’s second-largest internet market with an estimated 500 million users. If Huawei happens to be the one selected to help build India’s 5G infrastructure, it will be a big win for it.

We have taken a decision to give 5G for trial to all the players

Huawei is the world’s largest maker of telecom network equipment, and is at the forefront of the 5G smartphone movement. Its addition to the Indian telecom space will give an impetus to India’s 5G ambitions.

Chinese wearable manufacturer Amazfit is set to appear at CES 2020, and it will seemingly be launching at least one new smartwatch at the show.

Originally set for a January 1 launch in China, the Amazfit T-Rex release has now been pushed back according to a new teaser from the company.

Specifically, the updated teaser image above was posted to Chinese social networking site Weibo, showing the date January 8. CES 2020 will be underway by then, making that the obvious announcement venue.

A few photos of the smartwatch have previously appeared thanks to an FCC listing of the device, but the best look yet at the watch comes from a screenshot of the Amazfit app, showing the Amazfit T-Rex ready to pair.

The company has yet to reveal any of the specs or features we can expect to see, but the design looks to be rugged, with a focus on making a durable smartwatch for those who may easily damage a normal device.

The FCC certification also suggests the watch will have built-in GPS, a heart rate monitor, Bluetooth 5 technology and water resistance up to 5 ATM.

Amazfit has claimed its new Bip S smartwatch will also be debuting at CES 2020 with what the company refers to as "ultra-long battery life".

CES 2020 is set to kick off on January 7 and TechRadar will be at the show in Las Vegas to keep you informed of all the new tech you need to know about.

It's been a great few weeks to have been a penny-pinching PC gamer. Not only have you had the Steam sales from which to pluck your next cut-price gaming delight, but the fast-growing Epic Games Store had a sale on and was giving away a game a day as part of its Epic Games Store Holiday Sale, too.

That generosity has extended into the new year, with Epic offering up three great games at zero cost today.

The first pair is Darksiders and its sequel Darksiders 2. A mash-up of combo-based beat-em-ups like God of War and explore-a-thons like the Zelda series, you play one of the Horsemen of the Apocalypse.

If you're after something a little less hellish, the third game is Steep, Ubisoft's hugely underrated winter sports game. Perfect for those that love the idea of a January snowboarding sessions, but can't face moving away from the radiators.

How to get them

Thankfully, picking up the games is a piece of cake too. There's no hoops to jump through to claim them, other than signing up for an account with the Epic Games Store (which you'd need to play with them through Epic's launcher, anyway).

You've got until January 9 to pick the games up.

And, if you're after something specific, there are still some deep discounts to be had in the Epic Games Store Holiday Sale, too, which is running as one final 'Encore' week for its best offers.
