2020 is shaping up to be a very busy year for Canon: we already know that the company's latest professional sports shooter – the EOS 1D X Mark III – is due some time early next year, but we're also hearing that an ultra-high-resolution EOS Rs could be announced in February next year.

If the latest report from Canon Rumors has any truth to it, then we may see a refreshed EOS R model as well. We first heard about the Canon EOS R Mark II back in October, when it appeared in an internal roadmap alongside an upgrade for the EOS 5D Mark IV.

Fast forward to December and a source has told the photography rumors site that the EOS R Mark II is "now in testing by a small group of Canon professionals". That could either mean prototypes or pre-production models, but if another full-frame mirrorless camera is already out in the field, it won't be long before we hear official word on it.

The source claims that Canon plans on announcing the EOS R Mark II in May, in the lead up to Photokina 2020.

Canon has officially announced that it will be attending the upcoming photography trade fair in Germany next year, stating that the company "is eager to introduce new products and concept products at Photokina". So there may be some truth to this latest report from Canon Rumors.

While no specifications have been revealed as yet, the source has told the rumors site that the EOS R Mark II will resemble the high-end EOS Rs physically, meaning the Mn-F control bar on the rear of the current EOS R will likely not make an appearance, and a larger viewfinder with a higher resolution panel might be in the offing.

By the time we get official news of the Canon EOS R Mark II – provided the camera actually is in the pipeline – the company's original full-frame mirrorless camera would be about a year and a half old, and it's cropped 4K video will seem outdated. So we're excited to see whether Canon will offer its fans a refreshed version of the EOS R.

The Brand Institute of Australia has revealed in its 2019 National Reputation Health Report that Google is the most trusted brand Down Under – this despite recent concerns in the country (and abroad) over the search giant's collection of private user data.

As reported by Business Insider Australia, the Institute made the call based on interviews with 2,000 Aussie adults, along with its performance in seven key reputation-driving factors, including product and services, innovation, communication, financial performance, customer value, operations and, surprisingly, social responsibility.

"Google has by far the healthiest reputation in Australia, and is particularly outstanding in Innovation as well as Communication and Financial Performance; but is not particularly healthy with regard to perceptions of Social Responsibility," admits the report.

Reputation refutation

The search giant snagged its win over Australia's beloved hardware store chain Bunnings, which came in second place and was followed by Samsung and Apple in third and fourth place respectively. 

The win may come as a surprise for privacy advocates, as just last year it was announced that Google was being placed under investigation in Australia for large scale Android data harvesting, with a report submitted to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) alleging that the data collected about individual users each month amounted to roughly a gigabyte per device.

Rounding out the report's top 10 list of brands with healthy reputations are Qantas in fifth place, Woolworths at number six, followed by Microsoft, Toyota, Officeworks and the RSPCA in seventh, eighth, ninth and tenth positions.

When you lay your eyes on the HP Spectre 13 for the first time, you might be blinded by its sheer beauty. HP has taken the already-beautiful Spectre, and spruced it up with gold trim and packed it with internal specs that blow the competition out of the water. One of the first Ultrabooks packing a quad-core CPU, the 2017 Spectre 13 more than doubles the CPU performance of most of its competitors. It comes at the cost of battery life, but clocking in at just under 6 hours – the battery is still passable.

Razer has to deal with the common misconception that it’s solely a gaming laptop and peripheral company, a reputation it subverted when it introduced the Blade Stealth back in 2016. And, if you’re unconvinced, the latest edition of the Razer Blade Stealth may change your mind by turning into a 13.3-inch, QHD+ beauty. There’s no longer the option for 4K, but the performance this Ultrabook delivers is worth the compromise.

Rarely does a company think of everything when designing a laptop, but for what it’s worth, the HP Spectre x360 comes surprisingly close. It’s a 2-in-1 convertible laptop, which by default makes it not for everyone. Still, for those right-brained users out there, it comes bundled with a Windows Ink-compatible stylus, unlike the vast majority of hybrids. That would mean very little if the HP Spectre x360 didn’t have great sound and visuals, though it evidently does.

The original Surface Laptop hit the streets nearly two years ago, and while it was a fantastic Ultrabook, it was held back by relatively weak hardware and Windows 10 S. Thankfully, Microsoft rolled out the Surface Laptop 2 in late 2018, bringing quad-core processors and the full-fat version of Windows 10. Its through these core improvements that the Surface Laptop 2 is able to bring the purest Windows 10 experience on a laptop – not to mention, join the ranks of the best ultrabooks on the market – at a price that won’t make you flee in the opposite direction.

If you’re looking to get your hands on an entry-level Ultrabook that can get some work done (without spending a fortune), the Lenovo Yoga 730 should be at the top of your list.
