Have you ever been shopping on Amazon, but found yourself too lazy to read the user reviews at the bottom of a product listing? Well, you’re in luck because Amazon has recently implemented a generative AI to its platform that will summarize reviews.

The company states the AI tool will offer short paragraphs “on the product detail page” highlighting key features as well as overall “customer sentiment”. Customers can quickly scan the short block of text to get an idea of whether a product is good or not instead of having to read dozens of reviews. Amazon states in its announcement you can direct the AI a bit by having it focus on specific “attributes.” Say you want a smart TV that’s easy to use. Users can select the “Ease of use” tab to have the summarizer specifically talk about that attribute or something else like its performance is while streaming content.

Unfortunately, the AI feature was unavailable to us as we were excluded from the rollout, but The Verge had access. In their report, The Verge claims it saw the tool show up on listings for “TVs, headphones, tablets, [plus] fitness trackers.” It isn’t very consistent either. They state the summarizer is available on the Galaxy Tab A7, but not the Galaxy Tab A8. Also, it appears Amazon’s AI heavily favors writing positive content, as it spends “less time on the negatives.”

We reached out to Amazon with several questions about the new tool, including if there will there be a desktop version and if the company plans on providing links directing users to the AI's source reviews. Google’s SGE tool does this for the generated content it produces. It’d be nice to see sources in the paragraph. However, Amazon has nothing more to share at the moment.

Analysis: Remaining skeptical

Amazon has been dabbling in AI for a while now. Back in May, Amazon listed a job listing for a “machine learning focus engineer,” revealing the company is looking for someone to help develop an “interactive conversational experience” for its search engine. We could see the Amazon search bar one day offer a ChatGPT-like experience where you talk with the AI when looking for a product.

It would be wrong of us not to add a little asterisk to all this AI talk. As you may know, generative AIs are known to “hallucinate”, which is to say, they sometimes provide inaccurate information. It’s gotten to the point some experts believe this problem will never be fixed. So read the summarizer’s text with several grains of salt. As it turns out, you just can’t beat good old-fashioned human opinion – like the kind TechRadar provides every single day.

In just three days, Overwatch 2 has become Steam's worst-rated game of all time.

Overwatch 2: Invasion finally released on August 10, and its launch was accompanied with another big debut: Overwatch 2's arrival on Steam. By August 12, however, it had reached the top of a chart no developer ever wants to crown: Overwatch 2 now has the lowest user score on Steam. Ever.

According to Steam's Hall of Shame, over 100,000 players have left a review about the free-to-play shooter, a staggering 91 per cent of which was negative. Yikes.

"Big mistake coming to Steam. Now you have the whole community critiquing your game accurately for all Steam users to see," said one unhappy player.

"Overwatch 2 has no respect for you, it's an attempt to pry open your wallet while masquerading as the game it used to be," wrote another vexed reviewer.

It seems as though most players take issue with the free-to-play shooter's monetization model, but others are also unhappy with the game's content schedule and perceived lack of community moderation.

"This game has been review bombed, and I've seen backlash from others saying how it's unfair. Let me tell you firsthand, no it is not!" added another. "In my opinion, this is more than deserved for what Blizzard has done. As someone who has played hundreds of hours of both Overwatch 1 and 2, I have a good idea of what is going on.

"This is the result of an extremely passionate group of people who have time and time again been let down by Blizzard. People who have committed countless hours to playing, watching, and consuming Overwatch content over the years."

The aggregate user score has steadily declined since the game was released, and now sits at a miserly 0.96 out of 10, which is lower than games like Redfall, eFootball, and Battlefield 2042, all of which were met with similarly unfavorable player feedback.

If you'd been keeping an eye on all things Overwatch 2 lately, you may have noticed that a mysterious hooded figure has been infiltrating some of the community's biggest streamers, including Kyedae, Scump and Shroud. 

Known only as "The Enigma", this figure had been "hacking" streams and warning of the looming threat of Null Sector, described as "an antagonistic group of Omnics that will soon invade the world of Overwatch". 

Well, now The Enigma has pulled back his hood and revealed himself to be none other than John Cena, who's now urging all players to "prepare for the invasion". 

"Overwatch 2: Invasions is officially out and playable now, and while the three missions are clearly well-built and a lot of fun, I can't help but think that something's missing," Elie wrote in their feature, Overwatch 2: Invasions is great fun, but where's the rest of it?

"Overwatch 2 Season 6 doesn't only bring a new omnic-themed Battle Pass, but it's also brought three new story missions. Each three follows a group of the roster who fight for Overwatch, assembling the team to face the new omnic crisis facing the world."

Baldur's Gate 3 has knocked The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom off the top to become 2023's best-reviewed game.

Whilst some may have thought Nintendo had well and truly stolen the crown with the spectacular The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Baldur's Gate 3 has crept into pole position on Metacritic, securing an aggregate critic score of 97/100, beating Tears of the Kingdom by a single point.

Naturally, it's not set in stone – Metacritic scores do change from time to time, especially when a game is newly released, and critical scores are still coming in. Consequently, Zelda may still win out as most if not all of its critical scores are likely already in, giving it it's 96/100 rating. Baldur's Gate 3, on the other hand, has just 21 currently on the Metacritic site.

That said, it's a stunning achievement for Larian Studios, not least because Baldur's Gate 3 also reigns supreme when it comes to boasting the highest user-reviewed scores.

For the second weekend in a row, Baldur's Gate 3 is also the second-most played game on Steam of the last 24 hours, boasting more concurrent players this weekend than Dota 2 and PUBG: Battlegrounds. Of all the games on Steam, only CS:GO has had more concurrent players in the last 24 hours.

"I played one character for 50 hours on PC. This wasn’t enough to get through the game, and I'm still in the early to mid stages of Act 2, but it’s more than enough to get a sense of the sprawling scale and depth of the game here," our editor-in-chief, Jake, said of the highly-anticipated RPG, for which he awarded it a lofty five out of five stars.

Tekken 8 director Katsuhiro Harada has revealed that the "silly threats" some purported fans send to him and other Tekken 8 development team members have a significant impact not just on morale but also on costs and even the inclusion of some characters.

The news came via a lengthy Twitter thread in which Harada shared an example of a "silly" threat wherein the player said that if Eddy wasn't included in Tekken 8's line-up, he was going to "hit [Harada] with a Burning Hammer". The player even tagged Harada in the reply.

Harada revealed that even jokes can be problematic, resulting in "everyone [in the fighting game community] suffering the following losses".

Citing the example he'd included, Harada said: "The event operator overreacts and increases security, which increases operating costs, and increases the burden on the players attending the event. In the worst case, the event management will request me to cancel my attendance at the event."

But that's not all. Harada further added that "company founders, board members, and lawyers don't like to be intimidated", so if they get threats - "joking" or otherwise - they even ask Harada to remove characters or features from the game, even if he thinks they should "have been included in the game in the first place". 

Harada says this is more likely to happen if "the person making these threats uses the word 'we instead of 'I' to represent the fans".

"Many of them don't understand this. I do not adopt the views of those who use 'we' when expressing their opinions. It is up to the development team to decide whether the opinion is majority or minority, and the person expressing the opinion says: 'Everyone around me says so!' (at most 5-6 people around me) is irrelevant.

"By enthusiasts behaving excessively, repeating these words and actions, or fake information and hoaxes, or threats, the motivation of the development staff will decrease rapidly, and as a result, the requests of enthusiasts will be far from being realized," he concluded.

Did you know that six unannounced characters from Tekken 8's roster were leaked during the closed network tests? Whilst the first Tekken 8 CNT was exclusive to PS5 owners, another test - this time open up to players on Steam - gave dataminers the opportunity to use a tool called Cheat Engine. 

This can be downloaded by anyone and allows the user to scrub the memory of games revealing hidden content or even, in some cases changing the game to give players more resources, health, or ammo. 

Thanks to Cheat Engine, PC players were able to exploit the copy of Tekken 8 and scrub its memory and data for unannounced content. While not all games work with Cheat Engine, players have particular luck with single-player Steam games and that's how we were able to see some of Tekken 8's roster ahead of schedule. 

While the release date has yet to be confirmed, Tekken 8 will be available to play on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

It's time for your daily dose of Quordle hints, plus the answers for both the main game and the Daily Sequence spin off. 

Quordle is the only one of the many Wordle clones that I'm still playing now, around 18 months after the daily-word-game craze hit the internet, and with good reason: it's good fun, but also difficult.

What's more, its makers (now the online dictionary Merriam-Webster) are also keeping it fresh in the form of a new variant called the Daily Sequence, which sees you complete four puzzles consecutively, rather than concurrently. 

But Quordle is tough, so if you already find yourself searching for Wordle hints, you'll probably need some for this game too.

Quordle FAQs: Everything you need to know

What is Quordle?

Where Wordle challenges you to guess a new five-letter word each day, Quordle presents you with four puzzles to solve. And rather than complete them in turn, you do so simultaneously. You get nine guesses, rather than the six for Wordle, but the rules are otherwise very similar. 

It's played online via the Quordle website and you can also get to it via the Merriam-Webster site, after the dictionary purchased Quordle last year. 

As with Wordle, the answers are the same for every player each day, meaning that you're competing against the rest of the world. And also as with Wordle, the puzzle resets at midnight so you have a fresh challenge each day.

The website also includes a practice mode - which I definitely recommend using before attempting the game proper! - and there are daily stats including a streak count. You also get Quordle Achievements - specific badges for winning a game in a certain number of turns, playing lots of times, or guessing particularly hard words.

Oh, and it's difficult. Really difficult.

What are the Quordle rules?

The rules of Quordle are almost identical to those of Wordle.

1. Letters that are in the answer and in the right place turn green.

2. Letters that are in the answer but in the wrong place turn yellow. 

3. Letters that are not in the answer turn gray…

4. …BUT the word you guess appears in all quadrants of the puzzle at the same time, so an A could turn green in one square, yellow in another and gray in the final two. 

5. Answers are never plural.

6. Letters can appear more than once. So if your guess includes two of one letter, they may both turn yellow, both turn green, or one could be yellow and the other green.

7. Each guess must be a valid word in Quordle's dictionary. You can't guess ABCDE, for instance.

8. You do not have to include correct letters in subsequent guesses and there is no equivalent of Wordle's Hard mode.

9. You have nine guesses to find the Quordle answers.

10. You must complete the daily Quordle before midnight in your timezone.

What is a good Quordle strategy?

Quordle needs to be approached in a different way to Wordle. With four puzzles to solve in nine guesses, you can't blindly throw letters at it and expect to win - you'll stand a far better chance if you think strategically.

That's the case in Wordle too, of course, but it's even more important in Quordle.

There are two key things to remember. 

1. Use several starting words

Firstly, you won't want just a single starting word, but almost certainly two or three starting words. 

The first of these should probably be one of the best Wordle starting words, because the same things that make them work well will apply here too. But after that, you should select another word or possibly two that use up lots more of the most common consonants and that include any remaining vowels.

For instance, I currently use STARE > DOILY > PUNCH. Between them, these three words use 15 of the 26 letters in the alphabet including all five vowels, Y, and nine of the most common consonants (S, T, R, D, L, P, N, C and H). There are plenty of other options - you might want to get an M, B, F or G in there instead of the H, maybe - but something like that should do the trick.

If all goes well, that will give you a good lead on what one or sometimes two of the answers might be. If not, well good luck!

2. Narrow things down

Secondly, if you're faced with a word where the answer might easily be one of several options - for instance -ATCH, where it could be MATCH, BATCH, LATCH, CATCH, WATCH, HATCH or PATCH - you'll definitely want to guess a word that would narrow down those options. 

In Wordle, you can instead try several of those in succession and hope one is right, assuming you have enough guesses left. It's risky, but will sometimes work. Plus, it's the only option in Hard mode. But in Quordle, this will almost certainly result in a failure - you simply don't have enough guesses.

In the scenario above, CLAMP would be a great guess, as it could point the way to four of the seven words in one go.

Stalker sequel Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl will release in December, according to distributor Plaion.

Whilst not formally confirmed by developer GSC Game World, the website for Plaion - the company formerly known as Koch Media - has listed the highly-anticipated shooter sequel as releasing on December 1, 2023.

So far, so what, right? Fair enough – it's hardly concrete evidence. But when you factor in that other games on Plaion's sites without a release date have been given placeholder dates for December 31, 2023, rather than December 1, some fans hope that December 1 is the real deal.

Of course, without formal word from GSC all we can do is take this rumor with a hefty bucket of salt, but for now, it's keeping the hope alive for fans who had hoped to be stalking by the end of the year. Watch this space, I guess – Gamescom is coming our way soon, so (hopefully) we may find out more then. 

The devs of the upcoming first-person apocalyptic shooter, Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobyl, GSC Game World recently revealed that Russian hackers leaked test builds and other stolen material into the public domain.

After being hacked for "almost a year and a half", GSC Game World stated on Twitter that Russian hackers have been able to "access and compromise some of [its] leaked information intended for internal testing".

GSC Game World appealed to fans not to "look at or share and leaked materials from the game" in case it "ruin[ed] your experience of exploring the Zone by yourself".

The team revealed that the hackers had taken advantage of a vulnerability, and whilst frustrating, it at least meant GSC could identify where the issue was and address it before its release… be that December or otherwise.

No, that's not a typo. Or even a fever dream. Hamilton Simulator – yes, really – drops players in the world of Revolutionary War-era New York, bringing the various locations of the musical to life to be explored.

Titan Quest 2 has just been announced by THQ Nordic and sees the series get a sequel nearly 20 years after the first game. The game has been revealed as part of the THQ Nordic 2023 Showcase today (August 11).

It's a real 'rising from the dead moment' for Titan Quest, and the sequel looks to channel all that made the first installment excellent and upgrade it with all the bells and whistles of a new-gen game.

The cinematic trailer reveals that the game looks to be cut from the same (albeit upgraded now) cloth as the cinematics used in the first game and sets the scene with a tale focused around Sparta and the Fates. The trailer (and game, presumably,) is all about "Fate, who is involved in influencing it, how it can be changed, and what it means for those characters in Greek mythology", according to a THQ Nordic representative. You can check out the full cinematic trailer below.

THQ Nordic and the game's representative also shared a bunch of information on Titan Quest 2 information - though no in-game action was shown - revealing some key details and features.

In short, it's been confirmed that, like the first game, Titan Quest 2 will be a top-down action RPG that will feature more meaningful and tactical combat. THQ Nordic doesn't want it to just be a "clickfest", and it will keep the first game's stand out character creation method of combining two distinct masteries to create a specific class, full of its own combinations, branches, and skills and abilities. The flipside of this is that enemies too will also be able to combine their skills to provide stern tests in combat.

THQ Nordic is promising "meaningful loot" that's satisfying and not just about comparing stats. Every item serves a function, while there'll also be a plethora of weapons for each character class to experiment with in order to find the perfect weapon. Weapons can be upgraded with crafting and by finding the right resources, too - with even the most basic ones having the potential to be made legendary.

While the game is returning to familiar territory in the Ancient Greek setting and mythological backdrop, THQ Nordic promises a handcrafted world that's filled with beauty, expansive vistas and landscapes, secret areas, and an emphasis on verticality too, while a day/night cycle takes the setting's atmosphere to a new level.

The game will be playable solo or online with friends, enabling you to blend even more masteries and skills. 

There's no release date or window yet with Titan Quest 2 being in the early stages of development, but THQ Nordic stated that we'll hear and see "more over the next few months, with gameplay to come". 

Titan Quest 2 will release on PC (you can wishlist it right now), PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. Will it find space on our list of the best RPGs? We'll have to see.

Google is reportedly working on a new smartphone feature allowing users to connect multiple Android devices to a single Google Account.

The tech, known as “Link Your Devices”, was initially spotted by notable industry insider Nail Sadykov who posted his findings on his Google News channel on Telegram. According to an image provided by another insider Mishaal Rahman, the tool will be housed in the Settings menu – more specifically the “Devices & Sharing” section. No one knows the full extent of what Link Your Devices will do at launch, but we know it can do Call Switching. As the name suggests, the tool will let you “switch between devices for calls”. So you can begin a phone call on one Android device, put it down, then pick up another and continue your conservation there.

Speculation

Well, that’s the idea. Right now, it’s all just guesswork. Rahman himself believes Link Your Devices could be using the Telecom Jetpack library, a “cross-device SDK (software development kit)” first previewed during Google I/O 2023.

Without getting overly technical, Telecom Jetpack is said to allow “multi-device sessions over Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and ultra-wideband” among other things. The example given at the event would be to imagine playing call audio on a smartphone and then transferring the output to a Pixel Tablet.

We should mention Android Authority speculates in their report there could be an Internet Sharing tool at some point under Link Your Devices. This would be an easy-to-use “mechanism” for setting up a personal hotspot for other connected phones. 

Edge over the competition

It’s unknown when Link Your Devices will be released. As 9to5Google points out, the feature hasn’t made a single appearance in any of the “past Android 14 releases.” It could be something that comes with the launch of Android 14 or be a future drop exclusive to Pixel phones. 

If any of this sounds familiar to you, that’s because Link Your Devices is similar to iPhone Cellular Calls on iOS. The feature lets people receive phone calls on either a Mac or iPad assuming the hardware is “on the same network as your iPhone.” However, unlike what's expected of Link Your Devices, iPhones cannot directly transfer calls to or receive them from another iPhone.

This could be the edge Google needs to court over iOS users to Android. At the very least, it could be more effective than the recent set of online commercials the tech giant has recently rolled out.
