Malicious web links are dominating emails all over the world, being used to deliver harmful malware in order to wreak havoc or extort money.

A new research paper by cybersecurity experts Hornetsecurity found that besides malicious web links, hackers are still super interested in phishing. With an increase of almost 4% year-on-year (39.6% - 43.3%), it is still the most common email attack technique.

Hackers are also constantly evolving their tactics by changing email formats and attachments to best sneak around spam filters.

Preferred partner (What does this mean?

Impersonating major brands

According to its Cyber Security Report 2024, based on an analysis of 45 billion emails sent last year, Hornetsecurity found the percentage of emails containing harmful web links rose by 144%, rising from 12.5% of all threats last year, to 30.5% this year.

Last year, when Microsoft disabled macros by default in Office, hackers quickly pivoted from Word and Excel files (down 9.5% and 6.7% respectively), to HTML files (37.1% of files analyzed), PDFs (23.3%), and Archive files (20.8%). Of all the new additions, HTML files seem to be the most popular, rising by 76.6% in the last year alone.

When sending malicious emails, hackers are usually impersonating popular brands. DHL takes up 26.1% of all impersonations, Amazon 7.7%, and FedEx 2.3%. Other notable mentions include LinkedIn, Microsoft (both 2.4%), and Netflix (2.2%).

Threat actors also don’t seem to be particularly interested in a specific vertical, or business. While some endpoints may be attacked more frequently, there isn’t a single industry that’s safe from email-borne attacks.

“If an organization can pay a ransom, it’s a target to cybercriminals,” the researchers said. Notable mentions include the research industry, entertainment companies, and the manufacturing sector.

“Many organizations are too reactive, only responding to specific threats or acting after they have fallen victim," commented Daniel Hofmann, Hornetsecurity CEO.

"This approach leaves them vulnerable to attack. Businesses need a zero-trust mindset to protect themselves and should adopt all-encompassing security services to set their minds at rest.

"Our research highlights the adaptability of cybercriminals, and the rapid shifts that have taken place in the last year.”

Forget Cyber Monday, These Roomba Deals Are Live Right Now - CNET

Cyber Monday is over but there are still deals to be had including on multiple Roomba robot vacuums.

from CNET https://ift.tt/rmpw8aH

Latest Tech News

Cyber Monday has been and gone, but there are still some fantastic Cyber Monday deals available to snap up. As a TV reviewer, I know what a great deal looks like when it comes to display tech, features and screen size, so you can trust that I'll only include the best here.

In terms of TVs, there are a mix of sizes and technologies on offer at the moment to suit every budget, from OLED displays to budget, smaller LEDs and everything in between. Among these deals are some of the best TVs available, including some TechRadar Choice Award winners

Keep reading to find eight of the best Cyber Monday TV deals that are still available – these deals could likely stick around through to December depending on stock too based on previous sales seasons we've seen.

US deals

UK deals

Best post-Cyber Monday TV deals in the US

Amazon 50-inch 4-Series 4K Smart Fire TV (2021): was $449.99 now $289.99 at Amazon
The Amazon 4-Series is one of the best-selling TVs on Amazon and it's still on sale for 31% off. It had hit a record-low price of $289.99 on Cyber Monday so this isn't the cheapest we've seen it but given bundles still on offer with Amazon's Fire TV soundbar, we still think it's worth highlighting. You get 4K Ultra-HD resolution, smart capabilities with the Fire TV operating system, and a voice remote with hands-free Alexa, so you can use your voice to control your TV.View Deal

LG A2 48-inch OLED TV: was $1,299.99 now $599.99 at Best Buy
Best Buy had the 48-inch LG A2 OLED TV on sale for a record-low price of $549.99 on Cyber Monday and while that has since crept up, it's still offering a $700 saving. Named as one of our best OLED TVs and rated four out of five stars in our LG A2 review, it packs an Alpha α7 Gen5 processor that delivers sharp images and great upscaling from HDR, and Dolby Vision HDR support makes the most of movies and TV. LG's smart software is also excellent, and the included Magic remote allows you to navigate your TV seamlessly.View Deal

Sony X90K 75-inch 4K TV: was $1,499 now $898 at Walmart
This is a lot of very high-quality TV for the price! It's a 2022 TV, but its image processing is excellent, which is what you need when blowing up an image across a big 75-inch screen. It's also got an excellent panel, so you'll get uniform and bright images over the whole thing. It's also got the latest gaming features, including special 'Perfect for PS5' features that only Sony TVs offer.View Deal

Samsung S90C 65-inch 4K OLED TV: was $2,599 now $1,599 at Samsung
The S90C OLED is the slightly more budget-friendly cousin to the S95C, and now it's $1,000 off at Samsung for Cyber Monday. Don't be mistaken in thinking this is the inferior set, however, as it's our top pick for this year's best TV in the TechRadar Choice Awards. Our Samsung S90C review awarded it five stars out of five, praising its gorgeous picture and gaming features. It's not as bright as the 95C and its sound is also a little weaker, but it's a fantastic choice in its own right that will satisfy all your TV needs: be that shows, movies or gaming.View Deal

Best post-Cyber Monday TV deals in the UK

Samsung CU8500 43-inch 4K TV: was £649 now £379 with half-price soundbar offer at Very
This TV is essentially the same as the Samsung CU8000, which got a positive review from us for its rich colours and excellent 4K detail, plus its strong smart TV software. The really juicy deal here is not only the TV, but that Very is offering a half-price Samsung soundbar with it. We'd recommend the Samsung HT-C430 (£199 at Very), which is the right size for this 43-inch TV, and would cost just £99 with this deal, so you'd pay under £500 for both the TV and a big, powerful audio upgrade. Details of this offer are in the TV's description page on Very.View Deal

LG 55-inch G3 4K OLED TV: was £2,599 now £1,499 at PRC Direct
A slim, elegant TV designed to be wall-mounted, the LG G3 is LG's brightest ever OLED thanks to MLA technology. Vivid colors and rich contrast combine to create a stunning picture. The G3 also has all the gaming features you could need as well. This is actually cheaper than what we saw it for on Cyber Monday, so be sure to grab this while you can!View Deal

TCL QM8B 55-inch mini-LED TV: was £799 now £649 at Amazon
A good-size TV with mini-LED for ultra-bright images and better contrast, for under £700? This is quite the value package, especially since it comes with QLED tech for richer colours, and 4K 120Hz and VRR support for gaming. We haven't tested this variant of this model, but given how good TCL's bang for the buck is in its mini-LED TVs generally, it looks like a great deal.View Deal

Samsung 55-inch S90C QD-OLED TV: was £2,099 now £1,189 at PRC Direct
The Samsung S90C finds itself at the top of the best OLED TVs list, offering the stunning picture, gaming performance and sound quality of its more premium sibling the Samsung S95C, but for a fraction of the cost. You get everything you'll need in a TV with this one, and it's a great price – though we have seen it drop £200 lower over Black Friday and Cyber Monday thanks to a cashback offer. The price we've listed includes two free Blu-Ray films worth £30 too. View Deal

These are some of the best TV deals I've seen that are still available. Starting in the US, we have the Amazon Fire TV 4-series, which gives you a 4K, smart TV picture in a 50-inch size for under $250. Next is the 48-inch LG A2, which sits on our list of the best OLED TVs as the most affordable OLED. It gives you access to OLED technology for under $550, which is a no-brainer in my opinion.

I'd also highlight the Sony X90K, which has deep black levels and rich, accurate color in a 75-inch size for $898. This is seriously good value for a Sony TV of this size and model. Finally, there's the 65-inch Samsung S90C, which is a stunning TV and it won our TV of the Year at the TechRadar Choice Awards, thanks to its glorious picture, gaming performance and attractive design.

In the UK, the 43-inch Samsung CU8500 is not only a cheap £379 for Samsung's mid-range LED, but it also comes with a half-price soundbar offer to boost the sound. There's also the LG G3, which we rate as the best LG TV for picture quality. One of our gripes when we reviewed it was that it wasn't as good value as other brands on the market but now that this surprise deal has become available (it's now cheaper than when we saw it in Cyber Monday), we have to reconsider.

Next is the TCL QM8, a budget mini-LED TV that offered an incredible 2321 nits of peak brightness when we measured the 65-inch version in our review. This deal on the 55-inch set means you get it for under £650, which is an amazing deal for TCL. Finally, there's the 55-inch version of the Samsung S90C, which we talked about above, but this deal in the UK sees it at its lowest ever price of £1,089 (after a cashback claim).

Latest Tech News

In an unexpected turn of events, I'm getting ready to applaud Dyson for its performance in this year's Cyber Monday deals. While the brand itself wasn't necessarily responsible for some of the record-low prices we've spotted on Dyson vacuums, it's nonetheless triumphed over Shark's deals this year.

Positioning itself as the Apple of floorcare and haircare, Dyson isn't exactly a brand synonymous with major savings, but this year we've spotted some excellent Cyber Monday Dyson deals well worth shopping, in particular on its older vacuums, in both the US and the UK. This is contrary to its main competition – while we did see some excellent Cyber Monday Shark deals, they just weren't quite as enticing as Dyson's discounts.

Those discounts include record-low prices on the Dyson V8, now just $299.99 at Dyson, as well as the Dyson Outsize+, now $614.99 at Amazon – its new lowest price. There's also $150 off one of the best cordless vacuums, the Dyson V15 Detect, now $599 at Amazon, which is our current pick for the best premium cordless vac.

In the UK, scores on the door are much the same, with record-low prices on some excellent cleaning machines. The Dyson V8 is now just £269 at John Lewis, and the Dyson Gen5detect Absolute cordless vacuum cleaner is down from £849 to £749 at John Lewis - that's two all-time lows from John Lewis!

Today's best Cyber Monday Dyson vacuum deals in the US

Dyson V8: was $449.99 now $299.99 at Dyson
Lowest price - With a 4.6 out of 5 rating at Dyson, the V8 Absolute is easy to use, comes with a plethora of attachments, and is lightweight, not to mention cordless. It’s also a cleaning machine (literally). While it's an undoubtedly pricey proposition, this silver V8 Absolute is the subject of a large $150 discount at Dyson for Cyber Monday. View Deal

Dyson V11: was $569.99 now $349.99 at Amazon
Record-low price -
Best Buy's Cyber Monday Dyson vacuum deal gives you more than $200 off the Dyson V11, and it's much better than what Amazon has on offer. With its de-tangling Motorbar cleaner head and innovative Hair screw tool, this is a versatile cordless vacuum that can take care of all your cleaning needs at home.View Deal

Dyson V15 Detect Extra: was $799.99 now $599.99 at Best Buy
Save $200 on the Dyson V15 Detect Extra if you take advantage of this Cyber Monday Dyson vacuum deal. It comes with 10 accessories, and has a brilliant piezo sensor that optimizes power and runtime based on the debris being detected.View Deal

Dyson Outsize+: was $949.99 now $614.99 at Amazon
New-low price -
This Cyber Monday deal on a Dyson vacuum knocks this pricey cordless model down $335, a hefty 35% discount. The Dyson Outsize+ boasts two advanced cleaner heads, an extra wide Digital Motorbar, a big bin, and twice the battery life of the Dyson V15 Detect.View Deal

Today's best Cyber Monday Dyson vacuum deals in the UK

Dyson V15 Detect Absolute Vacuum Cleaner: was £699.00 now £549.00 at Very
Save £150 - Perfect for pet owners, the Dyson V15 features a de-tangling motor bar that works across hardwood floors and carpets, and can transform into a handheld vac for quick and convenient clean-ups. With 240 air watts of powerful suction and up to 60 minutes battery life, this vacuum is adaptable and robust, and we gave it 4.5 out of five stars in our review.View Deal

Dyson V8 Cordless Vacuum: was £399 now £269 at John Lewis
Record-low price -
Amazon's Cyber Monday deals include the top-rated Dyson V8 cordless vacuum on sale for £269 - the lowest-ever price. Perfect for pet owners, the Dyson V8 features a de-tangling motor bar that works across hardwood floors and carpets and can transform into a handheld vac for quick and convenient clean-ups.View Deal

Dyson Gen5detect Absolute cordless vacuum cleaner: was £849 now £749 at John Lewis
Record-low price-
There's no two ways about it - this is still a pricey device, but we have yet to see this top-of-the-range vacuum drop any lower than John Lewis' current price of £749. In our review, we gave this sucker four out of five stars, commending its battery life and excellent performance. Its main drawback is the hefty price tag, which is a little more palatable with this £100 discount.View Deal

Dyson V11 Cordless Vacuum: was £439.99 now £349.99 at John Lewis
If you want something more in the mid-range of Dyson's powerful vacuums, we've yet to see the Dyson V11 on sale for less than John Lewis' current £349.99 deal. The Dyson V11 is perfect for pet owners as it features a detangling motor bar that works across hardwood floors and carpets. You can also transform it into a handheld vac for quick and convenient clean-ups.View Deal

Cyber Monday MacBook Pro deals are cropping up over the weekend as we approach Monday November 27. With Black Friday now over for another year, it's time for Cyber Monday deals to shine!

We saw some brilliant Black Friday MacBook Pro deals these past few days, and the good news is that many of them are still going strong! Not only have we seen price cuts on older MacBook Pros, as we expected, we got some pleasant surprises as well, with some decent savings on the very latest M3-powered models of the MacBook Pro 14-inch and MacBook Pro 16-inch!

So, we have a good feeling that this weekend, and Cyber Monday itself, will continue to be an excellent time to invest in a powerful new MacBook Pro. Below, you'll find the very best early Cyber Monday deals we've found (and make sure you check out our roundup of the best Cyber Monday laptop deals as well).

Cyber Monday MacBook Pro deals - quick links (US)

Cyber Monday MacBook Pro 13-inch deals (US)

MacBook Pro 13-inch (M2, 2022): was $1,299 now $1,099 at Best Buy
The latest 13-inch MacBook Pro with the powerful M2 chip is available for close to its lowest price ever. It's a tough sell at full ask as it's not a revolutionary upgrade over the previous model and the newest MacBook Air M2 is actually better value for money in our opinion at just $50 more. Still, we loved this premium Apple laptop in our MacBook Pro 13-inch M2 review for its high performance in creative tasks such as photo and video editing, as well as the impressive battery life of around 15 hours.View Deal

MacBook Pro 13-inch (M2, 2022): was $1,499 now $1,299 at Best Buy
This model of the MacBook Pro 13-inch with M2 chip features a larger 512GB SSD than the base model, and it's got a $200 price cut for Cyber Monday. The added storage space is certainly welcome for people who want to use the smallest MacBook Pro for work, but the 256GB version is a further $200 cheaper than this model at the moment. If you can cope with a smaller SSD, that's much better value.View Deal

Cyber Monday MacBook Pro 14-inch deals (US)

NEW MacBook Pro 14-inch (M3, 2023): was $1,599 now $1,449 at B&H
The new base model of the 14-inch MacBook Pro has got a $150 price cut already. This is for the model with the M3 chip with an 8-core CPU and 10-core GPU, plus 8GB memory and 512GB SSD. This is a nice discount for a new MacBook, but it's not the most powerful model out there.View Deal

NEW MacBook Pro 14-inch (M3 Pro, 2023): was $1,999 now $1,749 at B&H
Yep, only a few weeks after it was launched, B&H is knocking $250 off the brand-new 14-inch MacBook Pro. It comes with an 11-core CPU, 14-core GPU, 18GB memory, and 512GB SSD, giving you a great opportunity to get the cutting-edge MacBook Pro for less. However, if you want more SSD space or memory, it's worth looking at older models below.View Deal

MacBook Pro 14-inch (M1 Pro, 2021): was $2,799 now $2,499 at Adorama
Adorama has cut a big $300 off the first generation of the MacBook Pro 14-inch, which comes with the powerful M1 Pro chip, with a 10-core CPU and 14-core GPU, along with 32GB of memory and large 1TB SSD. It's only two years old, which means that while it's not the most recent model, it's still very good - especially at this lower price.View Deal

Cyber Monday MacBook Pro Deals – MacBook Pro 16-inch (US)

MacBook Pro 16-inch (M1 Pro, 2021): was $2,899 now $1,999 at Adorama
This brilliant MacBook Pro deal proves that good things come to those who wait. This is the first generation MacBook Pro 16-inch, which has the older M1 Pro chip - but it's still incredibly powerful, and it's only two years old. Best of all, you get a huge $900 saving ahead of Black Friday! It comes with a 10-core CPU, 16-core GPU, 32GB memory, and 512GB SSD.View Deal

NEW MacBook Pro 16-inch (M3 Pro, 2023): was $2,499 now $2,299 at B&H
The new larger model of the MacBook Pro has got a surprise $200 from B&H. You get an M3 Pro chip with a 12-core CPU, 18-core GPU, 18GB memory, and 512GB SSD in a MacBook that is only a few weeks old! Again, if you want more memory or SSD space, it's worth considering some of the older MacBook Pros below.View Deal

MacBook Pro 16-inch (M1 Max, 2021): was $3,299 now $2,999 at Adorama
This $300 price cut brings the 2021 model of the 16-inch MacBook Pro with some still-excellent specs. You get what was once the most powerful chip Apple made when it launched (the M1 Max with a 10-core CPU and 24-core GPU), 32GB of memory, and huge 1TB storage space. It's still expensive, but it's certainly cheaper than the M2 Max and new M3 Max models.View Deal

MacBook Pro 16-inch (M2 Max, 2023): was $3,899 now $3,699 at Adorama
We're starting to see price cuts for the M2 generation of MacBook Pros now that the M3 generation is here. This incredibly powerful model was only released earlier this year, but it's got a $200 price cut ahead of Black Friday. It features the M2 Max chip with a 12-core CPU, 38-core GPU, 64GB memory, and 1TB SSD.View Deal

Cyber Monday MacBook Pro deals - quick links (UK)

Cyber Monday MacBook Pro 13-inch deals (UK)

MacBook Pro 13-inch (M1, 2020): was £1,298 now £899.97 at Laptops Direct
The first generation MacBook Pro 13-inch with Apple's own silicon has plummeted in price ahead of Cyber Monday, and has a massive £399 price cut, putting it at a similar level as the M1 MacBook Air, but with a bit more flexibility thanks to its better thermal performance, so it can work harder for longer. With 8GB of memory and 256GB SSD storage, this is a brilliant deal for a laptop that remains an excellent performer.View Deal

Cyber Monday MacBook Pro 14-inch deals (UK)

NEW MacBook Pro 14-inch (M3, 2023): was £1,699 now £1,569 at Amazon
Amazon has cut £130 from the very latest MacBook Pro 14-inch model, mere weeks after it launched. You've got to love Black Friday and Cyber Monday! This is the least powerful model, with the base M3 chip, 8GB, and 512GB SSD, so if you want more power (especially in the memory department), then look at some of the slightly older models below.View Deal

Apple MacBook Pro 14-inch (M1 Pro, 2021): was £2,232.97 now £1,649.97 at Laptops Direct
It's an older MacBook, sir, but it checks out. Yes, this M1 Pro version of the MacBook Pro is a whopping £583 off at Laptops Direct for Cyber Monday, and it's not the base configuration either - you get a large 1TB SSD and 16GB of RAM in addition to Apple's high-res display with 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio. Unlike the MacBook Air, this laptop also features an HDMI output for easily connecting a second display.View Deal

NEW MacBook Pro 14-inch (M3 Pro, 2023): was £2,099 now £1,949.97 at Amazon
OK, £150 off might not seem like a massive saving, but considering that this is only a few weeks old, this is still impressive. You get the M3 Pro chip with an 11-core CPU, 14-core GPU, 18GB memory, and 512GB SSD, which is decent specs for the lower price.View Deal

Cyber Monday MacBook Pro 16-inch deals (UK)

MacBook Pro 16-inch (M1 Pro, 2021): was £2,024.97 now £1,699.97 at Laptops Direct
If you're looking for the larger version of the MacBook Pro, you can nab the 16-inch model for only £50 more than the 14-inch iteration at Laptops Direct. This model comes equipped with the M1 Pro chip, 16GB of unified memory, and a 512GB SSD - and of course, Apple's incredible 120Hz Liquid Retina XDR display.View Deal

NEW MacBook Pro 16-inch (M3 Pro, 2023): was £2,599 now £2,449 at Amazon
The new larger model of the MacBook Pro has got a price cut in the UK. You get an M3 Pro chip with 12-core chip, 18-core GPU, 18GB memory and 512GB SSD. While this isn't a huge saving, £150 off such a new MacBook is practically unheard of, so if you were thinking of splashing out on the cutting-edge MacBook Pros, this is a very welcome deal!View Deal

While we're patiently waiting for Spotify Wrapped 2023 to drop, it seems as though a tweak is on the way in terms of how recommendations are served up: Spotify would appear to be testing the option to turn off personalized recommendations.

This comes from code spotted in a beta version of one of Spotify's apps, by a MacRumors source. At the moment though, we don't know much else about this potential new feature or how it might work if it rolls out to users.

Personalized recommendations are of course based on listening history and habits, so presumably most people will want to keep them switched on to see more music that matches their tastes. Without the personalization, presumably the recommendations would be what's trending and popular, or picked out by Spotify staff.

It does seem that this will be an optional extra for users, so personalized recommendations are by no means going away. It might also be useful if someone else (like your kids) are using your Spotify account – though the Taste Profile features do help you modify the way your recommendations work, to some extent.

Keep on tracking

By default, Spotify does of course keep tabs on everything you do in the app, to make sure you're never short of something to listen to – you can have playlists automatically continue with related music, for example. These algorithm-driven recommendations apply to Spotify audiobooks and podcasts too.

There's a possibility that some people just don't want to be driven by algorithms and AI, or don't want Spotify keeping tabs on every playlist they put on, or both. Until we get an official word on what this new setting might mean, we can only speculate about why it would be implemented.

This built-in tracking is what makes features such as Spotify Wrapped 2023 work, giving you a deep dive into all the tracks you've played over the years – and perhaps surfacing some listening trends that you wouldn't otherwise have noted.

We will of course keep you posted if we hear anything else about what might be happening with Spotify and personalized recommendations. In the meantime, check out our Spotify tips and tricks guide to get more out of the music streaming service.
