Cuban-American fighter Erislandy Lara tonight gets a chance to avenge his 2014 split-decision defeat to Canelo Alvarez - this time with a square-off against his older brother Ramon. With a title up from grabs, it should be a compelling fight, so be sure to follow our Lara vs Alvarez live stream guide carefully.
As well as the WBA Super Welterweight belt being up for grabs, tonight's showdown will also see the winner get to face WBA "gold" champion Michel Soro.
Originally from Guantanamo, Cuba and now living and training in Houston, Erislandy "The American Dream" Lara comes into tonight's fight off the back of a frustrating draw against then-WBA ‘regular’ titleholder Brian Castano back in March.
That fight came after a split-decision defeat for the southpaw against Jarrett Hurd in a clash for the WBA, IBF and IBO junior middleweight belts in April last year.
His opponent tonight is Mexico-based 33-year-old Ramon Alvarez who has a mediocre record of 28-7-3 going into tonights fight, and is some way short of the calibre of his brother Saul “Canelo” Alvarez. Having only won five of his last nine fights, any sort of result here against Lara will be regarded as a shock.
Among the night's undercard action is middleweight Kyrone "Shut It Down" Davis (13-2, 5 taking on Alexis Gaytán while unbeaten Cuban prospect Joahnys Argilagos takes on Julio García in a super flyweight battle.

Ireland's World Cup preparations took a massive knock last weekend with a demoralising 57-15 record defeat at the hands of England in Twickenham.
Joe Schmidt must now pick his team off the floor and ready them to face world number one ranked Wales on their home turf. No easy feat as the scars will surely remain from Wales' 25-7 rout of Ireland in this year's Six Nations, a victory which sealed the Grand Slam for Warren Gatland's men.
Unsurprisingly Ireland look set to make wholesale changes to their line up following the humbling at Twickenham, with former Sale Sharks captain Will Addison set to come in at full-back. Niall Scannell has been drafted in at hooker, while Tadhg Beirne will play in the back row.
Wales also look set to ring the changes from their recent 13-6 win over England.
With Alun Wyn Jones set to be rested, Josh Navidi looks set to be handed the captain's armband, while there are Test debuts in store for prop Rhys Carré and wing Owen Lane.
It's the penultimate warm-up game for both teams ahead of the World Cup, and with both coaches set to name their final 31-man squad after the weekend's action, today's match provides a final chance to shine for those on the fringes.
It's also a game you can watch live and in full, no matter where in the world you are, by following our Wales vs Ireland live stream guide below.

If you're outside your country of residence - whether that be the UK or anywhere else (see your other options below) - and try to start streaming the rugby via your native broadcaster, you'll soon discover that you can't as it is location restricted. Fear not, the action is still within your reach. All you need to do is download and install a VPN to effectively trick your computer into thinking that it's back home. That way you can enjoy your home coverage (as long as you do so in compliance with the broadcaster's Ts&Cs) without delving into the dangers of an illegal stream.

Windows 10 May 2019 Update has been having a pretty smooth – and speedy – rollout thus far, with only relatively minor niggles, although there have been some more persistent issues remaining unsolved. But the good news is Microsoft has finally cured some of these with a new cumulative update.
The main thorny problems which have been hanging around include an error that has been preventing Windows Sandbox from running in certain cases (Microsoft’s solution that lets Windows 10 Pro users run suspicious apps in a sandbox away from the rest of the system). This has been fixed with cumulative update KB4512941.
- Windows 10 Pro vs Windows 10 Home: we explain the differences
- How to reinstall Windows 10
- Windows 10 May 2019 Update problems: how to fix them
And another sigh of relief can be breathed by those who were affected by compatibility issues caused by certain Intel Rapid Storage Technology drivers and the May 2019 Update. This issue appeared over a month ago now, but Microsoft says it’s resolved with KB4512941 (although the safeguarding block won’t be removed until early September – so presumably next week).
The cumulative update also deals with an issue whereby a black screen is displayed when using Remote Desktop to connect to a machine running Windows 10 May 2019 Update.
Mixed Reality improvements
Microsoft further promises that the latest cumulative update improves the “user experience and app compatibility so that more Win32 apps will work with Windows Mixed Reality”, which is good news for those who have invested in one of those headsets.
There are a raft of other fixes which Microsoft has detailed in a long list here, but they also include resolving an issue preventing certain games from using Spatial Audio capabilities, and a problem where no cursor appears when selecting text input on a touchscreen.
As we mentioned at the outset, the May 2019 Update rollout appears to have accelerated to a very speedy pace, with the upgrade now on 33% of Windows 10 machines according to one set of stats – that figure having tripled since the previous month, showing Microsoft has definitely opened up the floodgates.
Most of the folks upgrading are doing so from the April 2018 Update, with prodding from Microsoft because the end-of-service date for that particular update isn’t that far off now (November 12).

Apple says it has identified a problem that "under very rare circumstances" can lead to cracking around the edge of the screen on aluminum Series 2 and Series 3 versions of the Apple Watch – and if you're affected, you can have a free replacement.
"Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider will replace the screen on eligible Apple Watch units that exhibit this type of crack, free of charge," Apple says on the official support page for the issue.
What we don't know is what's causing this cracking, but it's possible that some sort of manufacturing defect is to blame. That the issue only happens under "very rare circumstances" is encouraging for Series 2 and Series 3 owners.
- The best Apple Watch apps
- New iPhones are coming
- Huawei watches could use HarmonyOS
"The crack may begin on one side and then may continue around the screen as shown in the images below," Apple says.
If you have noticed this sort of cracking on the display of your Apple Watch, first head to the support page on Apple's website and check that your model matches one of the case size, color, and date sold combinations listed.
You can then take it into an Apple Store or an approved repair shop, or post it off to Apple, to get the screen replaced free of charge. According to Apple you'll be without your wearable for about five business days.
These official repair programs are now reasonably common for Apple, though usually only a few devices are affected. The Apple Watch cracking certainly doesn't seem to be on the scale of the MacBook Pro keyboard breaking.
In the meantime we're waiting for the Apple Watch Series 5 to make an appearance: we're expecting it to be unveiled on September 10, alongside some new iPhones, with some new casing options in tow.

Its a big night for Australian fight fans as compatriots Jeff Horn and Michael Zerafa go to toe-to-toe in Victoria. Former WBO welterweight title holder Horn will be putting his WBA Oceania Middleweight belt on the line for tonight's fight, and will be facing a fellow Aussie that's far from the journeyman usually placed in front of a fighter with an eye on a world title fight.
You can watch all of the action from the comfort of your own sofa from anywhere in the world with our Horn vs Zerafa live stream guide below.
Horn, a domestic boxing hero, is probably best know worldwide for his controversial points win over Manny Pacquiao back in 2017 which saw him unseat the then WBO welterweight champ. Having lost his title to Terence Crawford a year later, Horn has since moved to middleweight, and will have his eye on a late December title fight with WBA middleweight champion Ryoto Murata in Japan that has been agreed in principle.
Zerafa, an Olympic gold medal winner at London 2012, has a strong pedigree, having only lost to top draw opposition (e.g. Peter Quillin, Kell Brook, Arif Magomedov) and will be hoping for complacency from his opponent.
To ensure you can see the whole thing in real time so you don't miss any of the action, we've put together this guide to help you watch a Horn vs Zerafa live stream. As with most boxing, it's not always available in every country so you may find a VPN is the best way to stream the fight, which you'll find out all about below.

How to live stream Horn vs Zerafa from outside your country
But if you're abroad this weekend then you'll need another way to watch and avoid possible geo-blocking. That's where using a VPN comes in, as it's a legitimate way to watch the coverage without having to resort to some dodgy illegal stream you found on Reddit that may leave your laptop or mobile unsafe.

How would you like a side of MMA with your breakfast? UFC returns with Fight Night 157 in the early hours of Saturday morning beaming all the way from China.
The event will be held in Shenzen for the very first time as UFC continues its quest for global ultimate fighting dominance. That means this one kicks off earlier for MMA fans in the US with the main card starting at 6am ET, 3am PT on ESPN+. We’ll explain how much it costs and how it works below so that you're completely clued up on how to live stream UFC 157.
There are five matches on the main Fight Night 157 card (following six in the prelims) with plenty of local interest across the men's and women's divisions. China meets Brazil as welterweights Li Jingliang and Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos go head-to-head in the Octagon, while Jamahal 'Sweet Dreams' Hill represents American interests with a light-heavyweight match-up against Da Un Jung.
But undeniably the main attraction is the match in the main event spot - a Women's Strawweight Championship bout where the awesome Jessica Andrade puts her belt on the line against the Chinese Weili Zhang. If you know anything about Andrade then you know just how dangerous she can be, and she is looking like a mighty champion after winning the belt from Rose Namajunas back in May. But Zhang is currently on a 19 fight win streak and shouldn't be underestimated as a challenger.
UFC Fight Night China is set to be a real stunner and you can watch it in its entirety. All the fights can be watched in the US exclusively online via the ESPN+ subscription service. So keep reading to see your viewing options to get a UFC live stream, whether or not you're in the US this weekend.

For those of us using 2-in-1s that run the Windows 10 operating system, such as the popular Surface range, Microsoft is looking to improve the overall experience in the coming months.
The latest version of the Windows 10 Insider Preview Build (18970) has included a change to how the user interface is displayed when using a 2-in-1 in tablet mode – when you fold back the keyboard or remove it entirely.
Specifically, the interface will retain more of its desktop-like aesthetics when switching to tablet mode – instead of displaying a full-screen start menu packed with tiles and hiding the taskbar icons, the desktop will remain visible and some other tablet-friendly tweaks will occur.
This includes retaining the taskbar icons but spacing them further apart for easy finger-tapping, as well as collapsing the search bar into an icon, bringing up the touch keyboard via an icon or when tapping on a text field, and optimizing File Explorer for a touch interface.
When these changes roll out publicly, you will no longer be prompted to enter tablet mode when your device deems it necessary, although the mode will still exist as an option for the time being.
- Windows 10 update will come with laptop battery life boost
- Google kills Windows 10 on Chromebooks
- Windows 10 patch messes up Bluetooth speakers – but there’s a workaround
At the moment, the change is only available to people using 2-in-1 devices on the Windows Insider program (Windows tablets retain the old interface), and only a select few have access while Microsoft assesses the quality of the changes.
It’s currently marked as a beta feature, but as with any features rolled out to the Insiders program, a public release shouldn’t be too far away, albeit after some finetuning and tweaks are made.

While reports on the Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 are already gracing the internet, the beleaguered original folding smartphone from the South Korean manufacturer is yet to make its (second) official debut. In July, Samsung promise to relaunch the Galaxy Fold in September but didn’t disclose a specific date at the time.
However, a new report from a Korean media outlet suggests Samsung has chosen September 6 for an official announcement.
That’s the same date Europe’s largest trade show kicks off in Berlin, so it wouldn’t surprise us in the least of Samsung chooses to use IFA 2019 as a launch platform.
The wait could finally be over
Although the Samsung Galaxy Fold was initially set to launch in April this year, several design flaws saw the exciting handset go back to the drawing board, with the company canceling all pre-orders.
By June, company execs claimed that “most” of the Fold’s issues had been fixed, with a potential launch date set for July. That timeline, too, was off the table soon after. And in the meantime, Samsung whet our appetites by putting the Galaxy Note 10 and Note 10 Plus on shelves while we waited patiently for one of the most exciting phones to arrive… again.
According to the Korean report, the Galaxy Fold was initially slated for a late September launch, but the company seems to have decided to bring the date forward, with South Korea getting the new folding phone first. The US and China will also get a September arrival, although an exact date hasn’t been revealed.
Availability in other markets is as yet unclear, but we’re sure to learn more next week if Samsung does follow through with this September 6 announcement date.

Free TV- and movie-streaming site Tubi has announced plans to launch its service in Australia, with an initial library of around 7,000 titles set to go live this Sunday, September 1. That range will include hit movies such as The Blair Witch Project, 3:10 to Yuma, Kickboxer and more, and Tubi has promised to expand the library with more titles in the coming months.
Based in the US, Tubi offers free, ad-supported access to around 15,000 titles from major studios including Warner Bros., NBCUniversal, MGM and Lionsgate in its home territory.
The service supports streaming to a wide variety of devices – it has Chromecast support, alongside dedicated apps for Android and iOS phones and tablets, Sony and Samsung smart TVs, and video game consoles such as the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
Users are required to sign up for a free account, after which they can watch any of the service’s ad-supported movies and TV shows at no cost.
- Disney Plus streaming service now has an Australian launch date and pricing
- Apple TV Plus release date, price info and everything you need to know
- Free movies online: how to stream flicks for nix in Australia
Tubi was previously available in parts of Europe, but had to cease its service there in 2018 due to its inability to comply with the region’s newly-introduced GDPR privacy protection laws. Tubi has said that it plans to relaunch in Europe, but hasn’t yet offered any concrete information on when that’s likely to occur.
In Australia, Tubi faces a burgeoning (if not downright crowded) local scene when it comes to video-streaming services. Netflix is the dominant name when it comes to paid, subscription-based options, but there’s also plenty of local competition, with the likes of Stan, Amazon Prime Video, Foxtel Now and the upcoming Disney Plus all vying for the Aussie consumer's attention.
However, with few truly free options when it comes to movie and TV streaming in Australia, Tubi could certainly have appeal Down Under. Currently, Australian consumers are limited to major TV networks’ catch-up services, or the likes of Kanopy – a site which partners with public libraries to offer members access to a variety of major movies. Sony’s Crackle was available for a number of years in Australia, but closed its local operations earlier this year. There’s potentially room, then, for somebody else to come along and fill that void.
Australians will be able to sign up for a free Tubi account at www.tubi.tv from this Sunday.

The ongoing dispute between the US and China has resulted in some real strife for Huawei and its devices, making it difficult for the Chinese smartphone giant to work with American companies like Google.
While things started looking up recently when Huawei was offered a 90-day reprieve from this ban, Google has now told Reuters that Huawei’s upcoming Mate 30 flagship handset “cannot be sold with licensed Googled apps and services”.
The reasoning for this is that the reprieve offered by the US Government only applies to existing products and deal partnerships that Huawei has with US companies, meaning that any new product or deal would not be eligible for collaboration of any kind.
While there is currently no word on whether it will happen, it’s possible for Google to seek an exemption from this ban for specific products. It was recently revealed that over 130 such applications have been submitted to the US Commerce department, although none of them have yet been granted.
At present, Huawei is still considered the world’s second largest smartphone maker, coming in behind Samsung. Although, with the future of its Google support in jeopardy, it could severely impact its hold on the Western market.
- Huawei US ban set for 90-day reprieve
- Huawei phone sales rise despite US supplier licence refusals
- Huawei condemns US move extending ban to 46 more affiliates
Speaking to Reuters, a spokesperson for Huawei said the company would “continue to use the Android OS and ecosystem if the US Government allows us to do so [...] otherwise, we will continue to develop our own”.
Huawei has been developing its own operating system for some time now, with Harmony OS becoming official in early August, but it would take considerable effort for this alternative to reach the same ubiquity of the Google ecosystem, which includes the likes of Google Maps, Photos, Gmail and more.
The Huawei Mate 30 range of smartphones is rumored to launch some time in late September, with availability to follow, however we'll now have to wait and see if the US-China trade strife causes any delays.

Earlier this year, Canon announced that it was working on a slew of new lenses to beef up its EOS R line. Some of these optics have already been released, and now we welcome another pair, one of which is the RF 15-35mm f/2.8L IS USM.
The RF 15-35mm f/2.8L IS USM, whose official stamp was rumored recently, becomes the widest lens in the company's RF stable, and is an evolution of the popular 16-35mm lenses the company has offered users of its EOS DSLR lines, including the most recent EF 16-35mm f/2.8L III USM and EF 16-35mm f/4L IS USM.
- Here are the 10 best full-frame mirrorless cameras right now
- Get up to speed on DSLR vs mirrorless cameras
- Canon vs Nikon: which camera should you choose?
On top of its useful wide focal range and constant f/2.8 aperture, the optic arrives with the promise of edge-to-edge sharpness throughout the zoom range. SWC (Subwavelength Structure Coating) and ASC (Air Sphere Coating) lens coatings have also been applied to the elements to prevent flare and ghosting.
As an L-series lens, the new arrival also combines a dust- and water-resistant construction, together with a fluorine coating on the front element to keep water, dust and grease from adhering.
With a length of around 126.8mm when set to 15mm, the lens manages to be around a millimeter shorter than the EF 16-35mm f/2.8L III USM, despite the inclusion of an image stabilization system. This will no doubt please EOS R and EOS RP users looking to use the lens away from a tripod, given that such a system isn't present inside their camera bodies.
As with the EF 16-35mm f/2.8L III USM, the lens accepts 82mm filters. The barrel also incorporates a zoom ring towards its rear and a control ring towards the front, the latter of which can be customized to adjust exposure compensation, ISO or other settings when it's not needed for manual focus.
Autofocusing, meanwhile, is handled by a Nano USM motor, which arrives with claims of precision and high speed, as well as smooth and silent operation for the benefit of video recording. This motor also appears in the previously announced RF 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM, together with the RF 24-70mm f/2.8L IS USM that's been announced alongside the RF 15-35mm f/2.8L IS USM.

The new optic arrives just a few months after the RF 85mm f/1.2L USM and the more recent RF 24-240mm f/4-6.3 IS USM lenses, which leaves just the RF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM and RF 85mm f/1.2L USM DS due to arrive before the end of the year, according to Canon's lens roadmap.
The RF 15-35mm f/2.8L IS USM will be available in September, priced at £2,329.99 in the UK. Pricing for the US has not been disclosed yet, while pricing for the Australian market is at the retailer's discretion – the UK price converts to around AU$4,225.

Canon's most recent mirrorless additions have been in the shape of the full-frame EOS R and EOS RP, leading some to wonder what the future of the more junior APS-C-based EOS M line would be.
The new EOS M6 Mark II, which was recently leaked by Canon, appears to provide an answer, arriving with a new high-resolution APS-C sensor, 4K video capabilities and a hotshoe that can be used to mount an external viewfinder.
The sensor in EOS M6 Mark II is the same as the one inside the EOS 90D DSLR that's also been announced alongside it. It holds 32.5MP effective and works across a range of sensitivities right up to a maximum ISO25,600 (or a setting equivalent to ISO51,200).

DIGIC 8 processing power is also on board, which allows the camera to fire bursts of images at a highly respectable 14fps. Anyone who finds that too tardy, however, can boost this to 30fps with the Raw Burst Shooting mode, a feature that first popped up on the PowerShot G5 X Mark II and PowerShot G7 X Mark III earlier in the year.
That new processor also delivers gains to video recording; in contrast to the original EOS M6, which only captured video to a maximum Full HD resolution, both 4K and Full HD recording is possible here.
The camera has been designed with a 3-inch tilting touchscreen that can face the front, and vloggers will be pleased to learn that this is joined by a mic port.
Eye Detection AF can be set for both stills and videos. Other features include Wi-Fi and Bluetooth together with in-camera raw processing and UHS-II support in the single SDHC/SDXC card slot.
The Canon EOS M6 Mark II will be available from the end of September, with a body-only price of £869.99. A kit with the EF-M 15-45mm f/3.5-6.3 IS STM and EVF-DC2 will be priced at £1,119.99. Pricing for the US has been set at $850 for the body only, $1,100 with the EF-M 15-45mm f/3.5-6.3 IS STM lens and EVF, and $1,350 for the kit with the EF-M 18-150mm f/3.5-6.3 IS STM and EVF.
Pricing for Australia will be at the retailer's discretion although, based on discussions with Canon Australia product representatives, our understanding is that the full M6 Mark II kit will cost approximately AU$1,700. We will, however, update this story as soon as we can confirm the RRP.

The 24-70mm f/2.8 lens is the one many pro photographers keep wedded to their cameras – and now early adopters of Canon's EOS R line have their own native option.
The RF 24-70mm f/2.8L IS USM is one of six lenses Canon revealed it was working on earlier this year, and it's now been announced alongside the RF 15-35mm f/2.8L IS USM, as well as the EOS 90D DSLR and EOS M6 Mark II mirrorless camera.
- Here are the 10 best full-frame mirrorless cameras right now
- Get up to speed on DSLR vs mirrorless cameras
- Canon vs Nikon: which camera should you choose?
Compatible with the EOS R and EOS RP bodies, the new optic appears to offer photographers much the same as existing 24-70mm f/2.8 lenses, but arrives with some fresh innards and RF technology.
As with the new RF 15-35mm f/2.8L IS USM, Canon claims the lens delivers edge-to-edge sharpness throughout the zoom range, with three Ultra Low Dispersion and three Moulded Glass Aspheric lens elements on the inside to ensure everything stays peachy.
Image stabilization, which promises a maximum five stops of correction, is on board, while a nine-bladed diaphragm promises a nicely rounded opening for circular bokeh.
The lens has been furnished with zoom and focusing rings, in addition to a control ring at the front that can be used to adjust exposure parameters. As on the RF 15-35mm f/2.8L IS USM, Nano USM technology is also on board to keep focus fast and accurate.
The two remaining lenses of the sextuplet slated for 2019, namely the RF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM and RF 85mm f/1.2L USM DS, are set to launch later this year. That will bring the total number of lenses for the RF line up to 10, although EOS R and EOS RP owners can also use EF lenses with their bodies via one of three adapters.

The RF 24-70mm f/2.8L IS USM will be available from September. The lens is priced at £2,329.99 in the UK, but Canon is allowing retailers to set prices at their discretion in Australia (the UK price equates to around AU$4,225). We'll update this page with US pricing when it's made available.

The Canon EOS 90D has been the company's worst-kept secret for some time, first leaking out through a video on Canon Australia's YouTube channel, before a product sheet with features specs joined it.
Now the model has been officially announced, confirming what we thought we knew along with a handful of further details.
- Mirrorless camera or DSLR? Here's what you need to know
- Canon vs Nikon: which should you buy?
- Here are the 10 best DSLRs right now
The EOS 90D joins Canon's enthusiast-level DSLR stable, following the EOS 80D that arrived back in 2016. It's pitched at sports and wildlife photographers who may have been drawn to the likes of the EOS 7D Mark II and previous EOS 80D, although it officially serves as a replacement for the latter model.
Here, a number of the 80D's features have been either boosted, or tweaked at the very least, and the sensor is among them. In place of the EOS 80D's APS-C 24.2MP sensor, the EOS 90D gets a fresh 32.5MP alternative with the capability of recording videos in both 4K and Full HD quality.
The new camera is driven by a DIGIC 8 processing engine, the same one that previously found its way into the EOS Rebel SL3 / EOS 250D and PowerShot G7 X Mark III among other models, and this enables it to fire bursts of images at 11fps in live view, or 10fps when using the viewfinder (with tracking AF).
The EOS 90D also debuts a 220,000-pixel RGB+IR metering sensor with Flicker Detection, while Dual Pixel CMOS AF has also made the cut – this can be called upon when recording videos in both 4K and Full HD resolutions, and promises to focus smoothly and swiftly when using live view too.
Fast and accurate eye autofocus tracking – a sought-after feature on many recent cameras – is also claimed for the new model, although the 45-point AF system that comes into play when using the viewfinder appears to be unchanged from before.
Other video-centric features include Full HD recording at frame rates up to 120fps for slow-motion output, together with a cropped video shooting mode for extended reach and a microphone port.
Around the back, the 3-inch vari-angle touchscreen appears to be unchanged from the EOS 80D's, although next to this is a new multi controller, which allows for the focusing point to be conveniently shifted around the frame. The Intelligent Viewfinder, meanwhile, covers around 100% of the scene.
The battery is the same LP-E6N cell that featured in the EOS 80D, but the camera arrives with far better battery life, with 1,300 frames per charge quoted versus the EOS 80D's 906 frames.
The Canon EOS 90D will be available from September. The body-only price of $1,199 / £1,209.99 works out at about $1,490 or AU$2,200.

UPDATE: More details about Disney's new subscription service has been unearthed. According to Australian tech publication Ausdroid, the monthly $8.99 subscription will come with both 4K and HDR content, provided there are shows and movies in that resolution, with each subscription capable of four simultaneous streams. That's a pretty good bargain considering you have to pay a premium for 4K content on Stan and for multiple streams on Netflix.
The original article follows below:
While we’ve known for a while that Disney Plus will be launching in the US on November 12, the Walt Disney Company’s new platform has been rather vague about its international rollout. All we knew was that Disney+ would expand to “major markets” within two years of its launch.
But, when you wish upon a star, dreams come true, because Disney has revealed that the platform will launch in Australia and New Zealand on November 19, only a week after the US launch.
Until then, Aussie streaming service Stan will continue to be the home of Disney, with the Nine Entertainment-owned platform having signed a short-term deal in 2018. It's still uncertain what will happen to all the Disney content on Stan’s library, although it has been reported that the original contract between the two companies ends in October 2019.
The bare necessities
Whether Stan loses its Disney content or not, Disney Plus looks like its going to undercut its rivals when it comes to pricing.
Where Netflix, Stan and 10 All Access have plans starting at about $10 a month, Disney Plus will only set you back $8.99 a month (or $89.99 annually).
At launch, the Disney Plus app will be available on both iOS and Android, and will also support streaming via Apple TV, Chromecast, Roku devices and gaming consoles (Xbox One and PS4).
Can you feel the love?
In terms of content, the library will include movies and TV shows from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, the Star Wars franchise and from National Geographic, with the first episode of The Mandalorian available to stream on day one.
With the merger of Fox and Disney earlier this year, the upcoming streaming platform will also include content from 20th Century Fox’s library. The US will get 30 seasons of The Simpsons, but it’s as yet unclear whether it will also be available to viewers Down Under.
Whatever the library looks like at launch, Disney Plus is shaping to be a major contender in the streaming market, with a new study from research firm Telsyte claiming one in four Aussies are keen on signing up for Disney Plus.

The release of iOS 12.4 in July came with a number of small fixes and improvements, but alongside these was one thing Apple didn't intend: the update also inadvertently re-opened a security flaw that made it easier for up-to-date iPhones to be jailbroken.
Apple has now put out a new emergency patch – iOS version 12.4.1 – in response to the bug, which also happens to give hackers freer access to the accounts of iPhone users.
For some background, a jailbroken iPhone or iPad is one that has been altered in such a way as to allow the user (or third parties) to install apps that haven’t been approved by Apple and without going through the App Store, and to modify the devices in a variety of ways that aren’t typically allowed by the OS.
The bug was initially found by Ned Williamson working with Google Project Zero, who was thanked in Apple’s release notes for iOS 12.4.1 as having discovered that “a malicious application may be able to execute arbitrary code with system privileges”.
Also thanked in the notes is a security researcher who goes by the moniker Pwn20wnd and is responsible for first developing and publishing a working jailbreak for iOS 12.4. Speaking with Motherboard last week, Pwn20wnd stated that “it is very likely that someone is already exploiting this bug for bad purposes”.
If you're a regular, non-jailbreaking user and your device hasn’t been updated to iOS 12.4.1 we'd strongly advise that you do so, as security expert have warned that it's significantly easier for bad actors to sneak malicious code into apps while a public jailbreak is available.

Qualcomm, which has been dominating the affordable premium smartphone segment ($250-$500), is poised to face stiff competition from MediaTek with its Helio G90 series chipsets.
Shobhit Srivastava, research analyst for mobile devices and ecosystem at Counterpoint Research, told TechRadar Middle East that MediaTek has more affordable chipsets and many Chinese OEMs are using it to diversify their supply chain and want to have devices in every price segment.
In the premium segment, he said that Apple, Huawei and Samsung have their own chipsets and then comes the third-party providers such as Qualcomm and MediaTek.
According to research company Statista, Qualcomm had 45% overall market share in 2018, followed by Apple with 17%, Samsung with 14%, MediaTek with 11% and Huawei with 8%.
According to Counterpoint’s preliminary data in the second quarter, MediaTek had 40.3% share and Qualcomm had 32.5% in under $149 price segment; MediaTek had 6.4% share and Qualcomm had 43% in $249-$599 price segment while MediaTek had 0.3% share and Qualcomm had 21.7% in above $599 price segment.
In the Middle East and Africa region, MediaTek had 51% share and Qualcomm had 10.7% in under $149 price segment; MediaTek had 5.8% share and Qualcomm had 44.8% in $249-$599 price segment while MediaTek had 0% share and Qualcomm had 4.6% in above $599 price segment.
Chinese players take lead
“MediaTek has a very small share in the premium segment. In the affordable premium segment and gaming smartphone, MediaTek can gain market share from Qualcomm. OnePlus, Xiaomi, Oppo and Vivo are major players in this price segment,” Srivastava said.
The affordable premium segment constitutes nearly one-fifth of the total smartphone market.
Srivastava said that the new G90 series chipsets are a direct competitor to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 600 and 700 series.
The new G90 and G90T chipsets are gaining traction among leading Chinese players.
Xiaomi has already announced a gaming phone with the Helio G90T chipset for launch in the first quarter of next year.
Srivastava said that Chinese OEMs like Oppo and Vivo’s focus on the gaming smartphone market and the affordable premium segment can bode well for MediaTek’s new chipsets.
The Taiwanese chipmaker has ramped up its product portfolio in the last few years with the Helio P and Helio A series chipsets.
The low-cost Helio P22 and the Helio A22 chipsets were among the best-selling chipsets during the second quarter of this year.
Right price point is vital
With the new G90 and G90T series, Srivastava said that MediaTek is planning to capture a slice of the gaming market and dent Qualcomm’s dominance.
Regarding technology, Srivastava said that Qualcomm has an edge over MediaTek but giving it at the right price point is also important.
Counterpoint data also show that gaming smartphones have a bright future.
According to a survey conducted by the research firm, 31% of smartphone owners are gaming for over three hours a day on their devices.
“All in all, the new G90 and G90T series will provide MediaTek with a stronger competitive edge as it seeks to expand its share in higher price bands,” he said.
Moreover, after declining for six straight quarters, he said that 5G is going to drive smartphone growth next year.
“Qualcomm has first-mover advantage and has partnered with many OEMs. When MediaTek comes out with its 5G chipsets, it will come out at an affordable price point,” he said.

The OnePlus 7T rumors and leaks are coming thick and fast now, and the latest unofficial images to hit the web are some very nicely done renders that pull together everything we think we know so far about the phone.
Created by @OnLeaks and shared on Pricebaba, the images (and accompanying video) show a phone with a tiny teardrop notch on the front of the device and a circular, triple-lens camera on the back.
That rear camera setup matches a leaked sketch we saw just a couple of days ago from another reputable phone tipster, so it's starting to look pretty likely that this is indeed what we can expect from the OnePlus 7T.
- The OnePlus 7T could have 5G
- The Kirin 990 is coming to the Mate X
- Netflix is testing a new feature
OnePlus usually reserves big design changes for its big flagship launches, rather than the T variation models, but this year it might buck the trend – and the design does match a leaked photo that appeared online in December.
Aside from the cameras, we're expecting a 6.5-inch display from the OnePlus 7T, as well as the Snapdragon 855 Plus chipset, up to 8GB of RAM, and up to 256GB of internal storage (this is all unofficial for now though).
As for a launch date, we think the phone might launch in India as early as September, with a global launch to follow in October. OnePlus hasn't put anything official on the calendar yet.
We were impressed with what the OnePlus 7 and the OnePlus 7 Pro had to offer when they were unveiled in May, and it looks as though OnePlus won't be resting on its laurels when it comes to its mid-cycle refresh either.
As the days tick around to September it shouldn't be too long before we hear something official from OnePlus – in the meantime, we're got plenty of leaks and renders to pore over.
